Hello! I'm Kensho, a Biology major and Premed Violinist who found Conducting to be his passion shortly after finishing my degrees at Yale. Although I am now a full-time musician, my diverse and thorough background in math and science make me a versatile option at TakeLessons. As a violinist, I substitute for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and received a Masters in Music from the Yale School of Music. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Since 2008 I have maintained an active music studio teaching both violin and viola! My lessons are designed around you and your goals for music. I use a combination of Suzuki method and traditional (meaning you'll learn how to read music right away if you can't already) My lessons are catered to your needs, but warm ups, scales, etudes and repertoire are the building blocks of my lessons. Technique is a huge part of the way I teach--so you'll definitely get a solid understanding of how to play beautifully and accurately! I'm a relaxed and gentle teacher, and I'm never going to have anything but a smile on my face, so there's no need to feel stressed or nervous.

Though violin was the first instrument I learned, the viola just might be my favorite to play and teach. I've been teaching viola for the past three years. Technique, confidence building and rhythm are my main focuses for viola students. I aim to give all my students well rounded musical knowledge about theory, music history and musical terminology.
I am currently studying at West Chester University of Pennsylvania majoring in Violin Performance, with oboe as my minor instrument. I perform with the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Baroque Ensemble and many other small ensembles on campus. I am also an active performer in the local area, and I especially enjoy playing in operas and musical theater. I have experience playing classical, fiddle and rock genres, with my focus being classical. I have been furthering my teaching skills through American String Teachers Association membership, Suzuki training, and pedagogy study at the Starling-Delay Symposium on Violin Studies held at The Julliard School. I work to help students create and achieve their musical goals. Every student goes home with a list of points ...
I have taught beginners through advanced college students.
I began studying the violin at the age of 4 with the assistant concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. I studied violin though my junior year of college at Temple University, when I switched to the viola. I have extensive knowledge and proficiency on both instruments and have been teaching for 33 years. I teach all levels from beginning to advanced, preschool through mature adult . I have been told that I have a gift for teaching young children. I enjoy teaching! I get a great deal of satisfaction from watching a student master a concept, whether that student is 5, or 55; the thrill is the same! I tailor my lessons to each student's ability, personality, and time commitment. I set realistic and attainable goals and am very easy to work with. I use an interactive approach; I
