For Beginner students: we will start by exploring rhythm concepts and understanding how to read music. Learning the physics of the guitar and exploring the notes in the first few positions. Learning open position chords, and simple chords progressions, major and pentatonic scales,etc.
For Intermediate students: we will continue expanding our knowledge of the higher positions of the guitar, as well as develop better sight-reading skills. Bar cords and chord transposition, and music theory. Expanding our scalar vocabulary to modes, and minor scales. Learning arpeggios and classical etudes.
For Advance students: Close interval voicings, jazz improvisation, chord to scale relationships, and harmonic substitutions are some of the concepts we will cover. Learning solo guitar playing (chord melody), incorporating walking bass lines, transcription skill and arranging skills.

She holds a Master’s of Music in Music Therapy from Colorado State University, and earned her Certificate in Music Therapy at Shenandoah University, Virginia. She is a Neurologic Music Therapist and applies NMT strategies with children with autism and others. Bilingual in Chinese (mandarin) and English, she brings Music Therapy to a wide range of cultures in the Bay Area, California. She completed her internship in Virginia at a day program for elders and at the Westminster Canterbury, an Assisted Living Facility.
