Experienced cello teacher of 30 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages. I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical skills. I welcome adult beginners and provide many playing opportunities throughout the year for my students.
I have been teaching Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced cello students for the last 13 years. My studio is located in north Irvine, however I do travel to student's homes for an additional fee.
My lesson format encourages quick learning of concepts that include physical movements of cello playing, music theory, history, and general musicianship.
The length of the lesson is dependent on the level of repertoire. Beginners take 30 min. lessons while more advanced students need 45 min. or 60 min. lessons.
Each lesson is recorded so the student has a reference of what the music sounds like. It speeds up the learning time because the student knows what to do and what not to do. Watching the video is like having a lesson everyday between live lessons.
I have been playing the Cello for the past 11 years. I have been an active private teacher for 5 years and a performer for over 7 years.
I teach private cello lessons to all levels and ages. Online or at my place for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Take a look through my bio and profile and let me know if you have any questions.
I focus on fundamentals of technique and the basics. My students can expect a typical lesson to start with a warm-up that includes playing scales and an etude, working on their major piece for the majority of the lesson, and a bit of fun sight-reading duets at the end to cool down and relax. The things I like to focus on are left-hand technique and rhythmic accuracy.
