Ingredients: 2 cups all purpose flour 6 Tablespoons butter(must be real butter, not margerine) 1 teaspoon salt 3 teaspoons baking powder ¾ cup milk(can be almond, coconut, soy, cashew as well as cows milk) 2-4 tablespoons of softened butter Tools: 1 bowl 2 quart size or larger whisk or fork 1 pastry cutter(optional) flour sifter measuring cups measuring spoons 1 spatula 1 rolling pin extra all purpose flour for rolling 1 round cookie/biscuit cutter or tall glass cookie sheet or cast iron skillet clean countertop for rolling

Ingredients: 4 ½ large egg whites(by volume you are looking for 4 full liquid ounces) at room temperature 1 cup milk 2 ¼ teaspoons vanilla 3 cups cake flour sifted 1 ½ cups granulated white sugar 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened Tools: Stand Mixer or hand mixer measuring cups measuring spoons spatula sifter 2 9-inch round cake pans parchment paper (optional) 2 small bowls for separating the egg whites and yolks 1 medium bowl for mixing wet ingredients cooling racks toothpicks or sharp knife to test the cakes
