Matthew G.

Hesperia, CA

About Matthew

There are many things in life one can learn or accomplish! One of the most fulfilling is to learn & understand music! I have such a passion for anything music related! Music has always been a huge part of my life, since the day I picked up the sticks to play the drums when I was 13, until today, continuing to advance as far as possible on the piano! I enjoy playing multiple instruments, and I have great joy & much patience in sharing this love for music with others! My name is Matthew & I have been playing music since the age of 13. I have taught at "The Fundamental Sounds of Music School" in
Fontana CA at my local church in Fontana CA for 2 years. I got accepted into the Art Institute of San Francisco CA for my Associates Degree in "Audio Production," which I recently graduated. I have played in numerous groups & have written many songs. I have also sang in a few choirs and have put together many groups and voices in the past. I am excited to meet you and/or your child as a student! My goal is see all of my students excel and go far, above and beyond me, in this beautiful world of music! There is no limit to how far you can go! "Where words fail, music speaks." -Author unknown

*** Lesson Details ***
The journey we will take to accomplish your musical goals is based on you! The student:] We will find out, what you want to learn, "whats" your passion, and from there, figure out the kind of lessons that will best suit and cater to your style! :] I am unique as is every teacher in there style of teaching, I like to see students have the oppurtunity to *not* be limited in music, but to be able to teach him or her self, by learning to play by ear! and if the student wants to learn to read music as well, I can teach that as well! I am a big fan of "Alfred" material in the world of music, I use nothing else for the most part if I'm teaching music and using material, depending on the student, one can easily learn to play an instrument, such as a guitar in as fast as 10 lessons! Even sooner depending on how much practice time is put in during the students own time:] Typically though there are about 13 lessons to complete as a beginner, of the instrument you plan to learn, or voice, which is also an instrument! Its a truly exciting journey, & I would be honored to have a opportunity to go along this journey with you:]

*** Studio Equipment ***
I povide teaching material & lessons, I expect my student to provide there own instrument & and any accessories needed such as a metronome or capo:]

*** Travel Equipment ***
In my home studio, big living room area, A.C, most times my family is over but no interruptions in the music room:] Instruments. Great acoustics. Seating for parents. And my other 2 studios would be churches, one smaller and one very large:] I truly enjoy working one on one, of course with parents as well as students if they are young children, giving them 110% focus & attention! :]

*** Specialties ***
Contemporary, Gospel, Classical, Alternative, Rock, Rock & Roll, Spanish :]

TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2005, Jason M. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring multiple-camera angles and a share screen experience leaving no stone un-turned!

Jason has been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching music since 1996. Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the student€™s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.

This year Jason was also the M
usic Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwriting as hosted a recording clinic at the end of each day.

Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.

Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.

Jason attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage where his degree is in Music and Business. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.

Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!

Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.

Local news outlet Fox 5 did a segment with one of his students who overcame issues with ADD and depression as a result of taking guitar lessons.

His students advance quickly, some have released albums, been in Guitar World Magazine as well as its online companion and won awards for their music websites.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are scheduled to best fit to the student'€™s schedule when possible.
Students receive complimentary audio lessons and transcriptions of songs upon their first or second session. Jason is a very patient instructor and understands that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual.

When taking lessons from me there are many things my students can expect. First and most importantly it will be fun! Music is supposed to be fun and expressive so why make it boring and repetitive? For each student that I have I make a custom curriculum just for them based on their musical desires, strengths and weaknesses so I can help them become the best player that they can be. Each lessons will be a balance of learning new technique and theory and applying them in songs that excite and inspire.
Things such as: music theory, ear and harmony training, single string technique, sight and cord chart reading, cord structure, song writing, tone shaping, guitar maintenance and playing live will be covered with students as they advance. Feed back is always welcome and appreciated. This is your lesson, let's make sure you get the most out of it.

Varin I.

Montclair, CA

About Varin

Songwriter / Producer
Instruments: Piano, Vocals, Guitar/Bass, Drums

If you would like to schedule an appointment at a different time, please ask and I will do my best to make that arrangement.

What's inside the singing lesson?

Lessons revolve around three basic aspects which are training, singing, and acting.

In training, definitely be ready for some scale exercises. If you want to work on making your vibrato faster, breathe better, sing more loud or soft, sing short or longer phrases, co
ntrolling your mix, executing your melismas, r&b licks, blue notes, bending notes, singing super high notes and transitioning down to lower notes: balancing head and chest voice, and expanding your range, then vocal training is what you'll need. Most of this activity involves matching sounds to custom scales played on a piano.

In singing, definitely have a song in mind you want to work on. Then we'll discuss which techniques and skills that are essential for that particular genre of music. Other than that, you'll learn singer's diction and will know how to control vowel sounds and consonants more efficiently. Most of this activity involves you singing either a line, a verse, chorus, bridge, or the entire song. It really depends on what level you feel comfortable at. Most of this activity revolves around breathing techniques, phrasing techniques, and you singing the melody correctly on pitch.

In acting, whether you're recording or performing, you'll still need to put an act together. Portrayal of emotions are quite the essential skills to make your sound believable. If singing with feeling is not working out for you, then you might want to consider working on some basic acting skills. Some of the skills covered are voice inflections, rhythm, gestures, body language, and facial expressions. Most of this activity involves you expressing yourself as an artist.

How to be prepared for the lesson?

If you do not have a piano or recording device on hand, I'll provide both devices for you. It's recommended to provide a piano. It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to be in tuned. If it's digital, you should be fine. It's also recommended to have a recording device. Many clients enjoy recording their lessons on their mp3 players or any other computer devices. Please have a clean and clear space with an electrical outlet for the piano and recording device. Other than that, please wear comfortable clothing as if you are about to play a sport or an activity you enjoy. If you want to dress like a super star that's fine too.

If you're taking lessons online, don't worry about anything because everything will be provided.

I had a great time with Varin. He made sure I was comfortable as when singing you can be incredibly vulnerable especially when you don't sing in front of people often. I had no idea walking in what I wanted out of this other than improvement. He made a quick assessment of my voice and we started training right away. It allowed me to the get the most out of my hour. He was never shy to explain anything to me and I was happy to hear what he had to say. A+ teacher
