Safely explore your vocal sound to deliver outstanding auditions and performances: Increase your range, broaden vocal tone, explore dynamics, cultivate calm energy, and feel better about your voice.
Take a deep inhale.....relax your jaw and exhale on "aaahhh". That's how we begin, by relaxing and finding your "aaahh!" space with exercises designed to connect the heart to the science of voice & movement. Let me help you find an easier way to promote your best posture, easiest breath support, best resonance and pitch control. My teaching style is infused with the knowledge that students of voice must be treated with great care and encouragement. Let me help you release your authentic voice!
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way. We will also work on expression and acting. A song isn't just pretty notes—it tells a story. If it's a song from a musical, there's a specific character that sings it. It's your job as a singer to tell the story and to make it fun and exciting for the audience. While there's a lot of hard work that goes on during a class, voice classes are lots of fun! As your teacher, I am here to encourage you, support you, and guide you in your vocal studies. I look forward to working with you soon!
I first studied and performed jazz. I am very comfortable with standards. I studied classical in college. I believe that classical training is necessary to have a full understanding of your instrument, the same way you would train with sprints if you wish to become a cross country runner. From there personality and tons of practice are key to success in singing.
