Singing is a combination of technique and artistry and this group singing class will teach you how to merge the two. Ear training is the ability to hear tones and translate them into vocal sound, and it is one of the most important singing techniques to master. Your vocal training in this class will include singing and identifying simple intervals. Once you’ve learned a little bit about ear training you can begin the fun part- adding your own artistry!
About LoriAnn F.
Originally from Longview, Texas, I grew up Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana. I went to college at Stetson Univ in DeLand, Florida, and did my Master of Music degree at DePaul Univ, in Chicago.
I grew up singing from age 4 at church and in musical theatre shows, playing piano from age 5, performing recitals and accompanying choirs and singers throughout my high school and college career. I started singing professionally in college and made my Lyric Opera of Chicago debut at age 26.
I sang in Europe numerous times and eventually landed in Los Angeles, where I have worked with LA Opera since 2007. **It is with LA Opera that I won a Grammy Award for my performance in the opera Ghosts of Versailles.**
Singing, performing and teaching has always been my way of life! I started Voice Academy LA last year and have been building up my private voice studio since my college days. I am experienced, very knowledgeable, and have a fun personality! I take time to explain everything to my students so they can grasp healthy, vocal technique, and duplicate it on their own.
I demonstrate what I teach and will create a unique vocal plan for each student so that they can achieve the best results. We will have fun together and you will see results in time. I teach a classically based technique that build your voice and can be applied to whatever style you prefer.
Singing is a lifelong pursuit, and while I can coach you for an upcoming audition, it is dedication and regular practice and application that will sustain you in the longterm. I work with students at all levels, beginner to professional.
Arly has really helped me. I have seen improvement before I started taking lessons and to now. She`s professional, supportive, and sweet. I wish I couldve spent more time with her because she really helped me find a way to make my voice pop.
I am glad that I chose Arlys as my vocal coach. After the first couple lessons, I feel the difference in my voice. I am able to connect my diaphragm with my singing. I am so excited and looking forward to improve my voice further more. I recommended Arlys to beginning singers - she will guide you right on and make sure your breathing/singing/postures are applied correctly.
Hi my name is Kurt M, I started taking lessons with Arlys A in October 2013 and I realy look forward to lessons with her. She is very professional and fun at the same time. she has a wide vocabulary and is able to customize each lesson to meet the individuals needs. Since working with her I am more confident in my singing and I am very positive about my future in music.
Arlys, I am so glad I found you through takelessons website.
It was clear to me right away that Arlys was the best choice I could have made for an instructor. I noticed a difference in the way I sang the day after the first lesson. By the third lesson, the way I sang was completely transformed. Now I can hardly describe how much my voice has improved from day one.
Arlys is very helpful and encouraging in every lesson, and really knows her stuff when it comes to singing. She also allows her students to play an instrument while singing if they are interested in that, which is helpful to me.
I would recommend Arlys to people who want to dive into voice lessons for the first time like I did. I would also recommend her to anyone looking to take their singing skills to the next level and beyond.
