As a current resident of France and with my studies focused on teaching French as a second language, I am more than capable of helping you learn a language that I have loved for years. I've been teaching French for 2 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of French culture and language! Within the first few lessons, you'll start speaking simple sentences and as time goes on, you'll be able to conjugate like a pro! I also specialize in French phonetics so that you will be able to pronounce everything correctly. I also have the following tools available for your lessons: worksheets, textbooks, videos and more.

I love language: I speak English, French, Japanese, and some Spanish and German. France is where I first started tutoring, when a new friend and I - Akira - taught each other our native languages using French to explain things. That led me to move to Kyoto where I studied and worked on organic farms for a year, and was lucky enough to befriend 3 awesome Frenchies and become even more fluent. In America, at DePaul University, I received a BA in English and French; I worked for the Writing Center and helped my peers edit (and sometimes start over) 1000s of formal essays, held round table discussions with foreign exchange students, and led one-on-one conversations with people looking to improve their English. When I was in France I worked at a day-care/farm combo and took care of young children while we nurtured the animals. So whether you're 5 and need help with your shapes, 17 with lit-analysis essays, or 55 and want to begin learning a language for the first time, I've got your back! Currently I work as a private tutor of Japanese, English, and French. I also lead a number of workshops and social events focusing on shamanism in and around Chicago.

Bonjour! As a language lover, I have enjoyed learning various languages and am thus able to anticipate the language questions that you may have. In my four years of teaching French, I've enjoyed using authentic resources like songs and news articles to help my students interact with the language in real contexts. I obtained my B.A. in French and Chinese and M.A. in French Linguistics from the University of Florida, and am currently a doctoral student in the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching PhD at the University of Arizona, where I also teach French. My passion and research interests are language teaching and language learning, so I enjoy creating materials for lessons, homework, and extra practice in order to help you learn to communicate most effectively in French and connect with French and Francophone cultures!

Bonjour! I was born and raised in a small town in West of France where the speciality is... a handkerchief! I have since lived in Belgium, Norway, Israel, Romania and now Texas following my husband who is a scientist. In every country, I taught French to several students and developed great tutoring skills from it. Beside teaching and science, my passion in life is cooking! I will be more than happy to share French recipes with you so you can feel and taste some of the French culture.

This is our fourth week with Mikayla. As a mom, I can already tell a difference in my son's ability to make english to French connection. His confidence is up supremely in class and most importantly, he seems to be enjoying learning the language more. Working with Mikayla is something my son looks forward to weekly. Incorporating lessons with her has greatly improved my son's success in French class. I only wish we had incorporated lessons with her sooner. Extremely satisfied!!

Mikayla is an absolutely amazing teacher!! I enrolled my 10 year old daughter in Take Lessons during the summer of 2016 to prepare her for a new private school atmosphere. Honestly, I was hesitant, this was her first time being exposed to a second language. I'm happy to say, Mikayla helped her rise to the occassion! She is not only excelling in her class but she is speaking French fluently and confidently volunteering for roles in various plays at her school. She is currently one of the top students in her class and is always eager to share her week with Mikayla to be challenged with new goals. We will continue our journey with Mikayla as long as my daughter continues to master the love and language of the French Culture. We highly recommend taking lessons with Mikayla!!!
