Benjamin K. Chicago, IL

I have been teaching math for several years now and understand the need for a good foundation. I work with students to find any concepts they have missed or do not fully understand. My goal in teaching math is always comprehension not grades. After laying a good foundation, it is amazing to see the improvement and success my students have had!

About Benjamin

My expansive breadth of interests has led me through years of experience in the arts and natural sciences. I'm a voice instructor, math tutor, and biology teacher. Now, I'm pursuing a career in opera and vocal performance. I have extensively studied vocal performance and opera for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have been in many operas and musical theater productions. I am currently performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat at the Booth Tarkington Theatre. I was a finalist in the MasterWorks Festival concerto competition. I have studied other vocal genres, such as jazz and pop. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. I use the appoggio technique of breathing and believe all singing should be produced in a ...

Ben is a great teacher and makes each lesson a valuable learning experience. I was able to notice improvements in my voice right away after just a couple of lessons. I highly recommend him!

I have only had a few lessons with Benjamin so far, but I'm happy to say that each one was fun and educational. In past vocal trainings I focused on my chest voice, but Benjamin is helping me to discover and control my head voice in ways that I didn't think I could. At first I was worried I wouldn't find a teacher who could help me with college audition preparation, but sure enough, Benjamin went through the process and had plenty of great tips that I can use this coming year.
Thanks Benjamin! :)

I'm a 31 year old singer in a Indie Rock band called Readen Roark. I have had little to no training prior to practicing with Benjamin. I was looking for someone to help me find my voice and help me figure out how to actually sing. After many years of trying it on my own and listening to vocal dvds, I bit the bulllet and swallowed a little bit of my pride and found Benjamin through takelessons.com. I immediately found results as far as realizing how I WAS singing isn't suppose to be how I AM to sing. When you sing, the feeling should be somewhat easy. Ben is helping me find that spot and easiness. I am eager to see my improvement as time moves on. Not to mention Ben makes the lesson enjoyable and easy going. It is something I look forward to and hope to continue for a long time to come. I am even tempted to bring him some of my band embers and work with the band as a whole. When the next album is ready for vocals, I will definitely try to have him there. Highly recommended.

Amadou C. Chicago, IL

I have a passion for mathematics, because it is universal, and I travel a lot. So practically, it's the one language that I can communicate with everyone with. one of the highlight of my math career was when I used the math I'd mastered to create and program an awesome automated condiment dispenser, and help a doctoral student get an 'A' on her statistics assignment upon starting our lessons just two days before the due date.
And yes, I love sharing my vast pool of mathematical intellect with anyone whose willing to 'swim' in it, by breaking it down theorem by theorem until it's an 'empty set', that I can reassemble into a more understandable and entertaining form.

About Amadou

~ I am an Ivy Tech student who breaks down all of the complexities that are found throughout math and science. I have also taught many middle-school children math and science overseas and participated in several volunteer mentoring programs throughout my community. I personally love geometry, because it is one of the easiest, but yet most challenging to students. I am patient and understanding, because I have worked with a diversity of people over the span of 16 countries throughout the world, as well as contributing to an 'A' that my doctoral student earned in her statistics assignment. I am majoring in mechanical engineering, so naturally, I maintain an exemplary study ethic that inspires my students to achieve more. All in all, I bring results. I know how to relate to my students, ...

Words cannot say how much we appreciate and value Amadou's instruction. He is a terrific teacher and what is particularly unique is that he is good with little kids. He is teaching my 6 year old son French on line and has managed to engage him and keep him coming back, which is true testament to how good he is. He seems knowledgeable about a host of subjects, communicates well, is clear and easy to deal with. I highly, highly recommend Amadou for tutoring.

For the brief time my daughter had Amadou, I can say Amadou is very helpful, kind and patience. I like the fact that Amadou is so encouraging to my daughter and motivates her in a positive way.
Kevin O. Chicago, IL

I teach physics at the high school level and love how we can use math to as a language to describe the universe.

About Kevin

Hey! My name is Kevin. I teach physics in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Science is pretty cool, but literature and philosophy were always my first interests. I did computer science and research for a couple of years and thought I'd take my hand in teaching and absolutely fell in love with it. I also do photography and design on the side. On the weekends, I'm usually doing photoshoots or rock climbing! I have some pretty big plans for the near future, so I figured I'd do what I love while tutoring some of y'all to make those big plans happen!
