With a voice that has been described as exquisite, sublime, and pure beauty, soprano Veronica has performed with opera companies and orchestras across the country while keeping firm roots in her hometown of Philadelphia. She has performed with small choruses and full orchestras, in intimate outdoor venues and major opera houses. She is an Artist in Residence at Temple University and has sung as a core member of many local choral ensembles, but frequently travels outside of the area to perform.

ith the Shenandoah Bach Festivals concert version Le nozze di Figaro. 2010-2011 season also took Veronica on tour for the Northeast Louisiana / Union Parish Arts Councilâs Amazing Grace (featuring music of various religions, time periods and styles).
In 2008-2009 Veronica sang the role of the High Priestess for Opera Birminghamâs Aida, and added several new roles to her repertoire, including Liu (Turandot) with Opera Birmingham, the title role in Lakme with Concert OPERA of Philadelphia and Nedda (I Pagliacci) with Sycamore Opera and The Cousin (Madama Butterfly) with the Opera Company of Philadelphia. Of her finessed and dramatic portrayal of Liu, the press remarked that (she) sang passionately in the tear-jerking Act 1 aria, "Signore, ascolta," her final high pianissimo notes suspended in pure beauty. In Act 3, she provided one of the opera's most startling and poignant moments when she stabbed herself at the end of "Tu che di gel." She also performed a recital of opera and Broadway favorites to open Opera Birminghams performance season and traveled to Louisiana to celebrate the holidays as a soloist for the Northern Louisiana / Union Parish Arts Councils Ill Be Home for Christmas concerts.
Veronica performed two roles in Porgy and Bess in 2008, singing Clara with Opera Birmingham and Lilly with Lyric Opera of Chicago. She also appeared with Opera Delaware as Gianetta in The Gondoliers and won fifth place and audience favorite in the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition.
2007 was a year of rave reviews for Veronica on both the opera and the concert stage. Of Opera Birminghams production of Cenerentola, Michael Huebner of The Birmingham News remarked "The role of Clorinda was engagingly sung, Veronica milked the sister's arrogance and ineptitude for all their worth. This was a five star production! Her recital performance with famed mezzo Marietta Simpson and bass Kevin Maynor was praised by the Birmingham Times, Veronica's agility and confidence in the upper register created some of the concert's most sublime passages. Her embellishments in 'Ride On King Jesus' were exquisite." Additional concert performances took her Muskegon, MI for performances with the West Shore Symphony, to Tennessee for the Memphis Symphonys televised Home for The Holidays concert and to Spoleto, Italy for the invitational Festival di Due Monde.
During 2006 Veronica performed Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera with Elysium Concert Opera of Philadelphia and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte) with Delaware Valley Opera Company, and the title character in Little Red Riding Hood with Opera Birmingham. Michael Caruso of the Chestnut Hill Local called her a romantic and pearl voiced Fiordiligi. She also performed several musical theater selections with Bristol Riverside Theater for their Summer Musicale and then their holiday-themed Winter Musicale. Anita Donovan of The Trenton Times remarked, Veronica's powerful version of Summertime, I Loves You Porgy, My Mans Gone Now, and (the duet) Bess You Is My Woman Now makes one long or a full-scale revival.
2005 Veronica performed Edith in Pirates of Penzance with Gulf Atlantic Symphony of Florida, Violetta (student matinee performance) and Aninna (main stage production) for Center City Opera Theaters La Traviata. That summer she returned to Ash Lawn Opera Festival and appeared as Dolly Tate in Annie Get Your Gun. She was also chosen to be Gretel in Opera Birminghamâs educational tour of Hansel and Gretel. After leaving Birmingham she sang Donna Elvira with New York Opera Project, in which Debra Banerjee of the Scarsdale Inquire called her performance very emotional¦ very dramatic presence.
Veronica spent most of 2004 away from her Philadelphia home performing with Opera Colorado as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel (outreach ensemble) and Berta (student matinee performance) in Il barbiere di Siviglia. She also performed the roles of Susanna (one performance) and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Theater of The Rockies in Colorado Springs, and performed with the Colorado Symphony in their Opera on The Rocks concert at Red Rocks. That summer she was chosen as an apprentice at the Ash Lawn Opera Festival singing the Boylen Sister in Annie and Berta (cover) in The Barber of Seville.
In 2003 Veronica made her professional debut performing the title role in the Savoy Companys production of Princess Ida, and appeared with the Young Artist Program at Natchez Opera Festival performing the role of the Princess in Fair Means of Foul. That same year she also performed at Shaker Mountain Opera as Gianetta in L'elisir d'amore and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro.
She has also been a soprano soloist for the Charlotte Symphony, Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia, Mendelsshon Club of Philadelphia, Ursinus College, In Clara Voce, and Orquestra Sinfonica Municipal de Caracas to name a few. She is known for her very versatile vocal abilities. Some demonstrations of her flexibility include her appearance with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia as the voice of Joan of Arc (a part that previously was only sung by members of the well-known group Anonymous 4) in Richards Einhorn's Voices of Light and her appearance as soloist in the Monteverdi Vespers 1610 with Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia.
Veronicaâs upcoming engagements include First Lady in Opera Delaware's production of The Magic Flute, covering Pamina in the same production, and Soprano One in the solo quartet of Opera Company of Philadelphia's production of Manon Lescaut.
*** Lesson Details *** I have been teaching piano/music reading and voice lessons of all ages since 2003. I really enjoy exploring the journey of learning about music with my students.
With voice lessons we learn the fundamentals of singer (breath, "placement", pitch accuracy, rhythm accuracy, and diction) Most students see a marked improvement in their singing ability in about 3-6 months. Singing is not always easy, but in a nurturing, safe environment I allow my students to realize their true potential.
In piano/music reading lessons I teach beginners. At these lessons you will learn basics of music reading music, rhythm exercises, and the basics of music theory. My attitude about playing piano is the same as singing, it may not be easy all the time but the time invested in learning will be worth the reward of being able to play an instrument!

I have been teaching voice for 30 years. My work at Temple University has prepared me for teaching the workings of opera singing - bel canto style. Bel canto literally means beautiful singing. Excellent technique is of the utmost importance. You will enhance your technique and artistry as well as expand your repertoire.
I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It is my very favorite activity. I have transformed my love of singing into a career.
I have been teaching music lessons for over 25 years. When you study with me you will have the advantage of that experience. I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages. Throughout my teaching career I have taught students with varied backgrounds and diverse needs. If you are a person who was told not to sing by your music teacher, don't give up! I have taught many children and adults to match pitches and improve their singing voices.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Moravian College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University. While at Temple, I studied standard vocal repertoire and Early Music. I have also completed graduate courses in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at West Chester University.
I served on the faculty of Suburban Music School for 17 years where I taught voice, piano and recorder lessons. I also directed the Children’s Choir and the Women’s Choir. I was formerly on the faculty of Delaware County Community College where I taught courses in the Music Department; and of Temple Music Prep where I instituted, developed and maintained a vocal program at Temple University’s Ambler Campus.
In addition to teaching I was employed for eleven years as a chorister at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, DE where I have had the opportunity to sing for such notable conductors as John Rutter, Sir David Wilcox, Sir Philip Ledger, Stephen Cleobury, and James O’Donnell. Previous choral work has included singing for Dr. Ifor Jones and for Michael Korn. I perform in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the Philadelphia area and in Cape May, NJ and with a Celtic group called Celtic Women and Friends.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice Lessons
When you study voice with me, you will start with the basics - posture, breathing and tone production. If you have studied before, we will review these areas and brush up on anything that needs work. The next step is to learn some vocal exercises to warm up and develop your voice. When the exercises are going well, we will begin to work on songs. You will need to learn some classical songs because they help to develop your voice, but we will also work on the kind of music you like best. In addition to songs, we will work on solfege (do, re, mi, etc.) which helps to train your ear and to improve your sightreading ability. If you don't know how to read music I will teach you that. If you read music but have some gaps in your knowledge, we will fill those in.
I teach what is called bel canto (beautiful singing). It is a healthy vocal technique that will help you avoid vocal problems. When you learn to sing with this technique, you can sing any style of music you want. After a few months of study, you should be able to tell that your voice is growing stronger, that you have better breath control, and that your range is increasing.
Although I have high expectations of my students, I am relaxed and friendly. If you love to laugh, we will enjoy that together!
When you study piano with me you will enjoy playing a variety of songs from your lesson book. As you advance, we may add a repertoire book which increases the number and variety of songs you play. There are many excellent piano methods. I use different methods for different students, depending on their needs.
Lessons will include posture and proper hand position, warm-ups, songs and music theory. Music theory is the study of notation and how music is put together. You will have a workbook with exercises for this study. If there is a particular style of music you would like to play, we will look for music at your level to add to your lesson. After a few months of study, you should know how to read basic notation and be able to play a number of songs. You will also have increased your knowledge of musical notation and harmony.
I expect my students to practice in preparation for their lesson every week. I am relaxed and friendly, so that should help to put you at your ease.

Lauren is the real deal. Point blank period. I initially signed up for singing lessons, but she has helped me with piano, music theory, and other skills as well. She has a much more wholesome approach for developing as an artist than simply a linear "sing these notes" type of lesson.
Lauren is a good balance of stern and silly. She has a great sense of humor, so I feel comfortable singing & playing for her (even if my skills are limited and sound like a dying horse). However, that doesn't mean you just goof around. She takes it very seriously and pushes you as a student. I couldn't recommend Lauren more.
Voice lessons consist of learning a solid vocal technique and singing arias from the standard operatic repertoire. Students learn to sing in Italian, German, and French, in addition to English. For beginners, Italian art songs and German Lieder are introduced initially, learning first to sing classical repertoire.
Sandra began her training at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. She is a two time recipient of the Mario Lanza Award, and holds a B.M. degree in opera from the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. She studied acting at both the Wilma and Walnut Theaters in Philadelphia. In New York, she studied Shakespeare at the HB Studios, and received on-camera training at the Weisst- Barron Commercial School. Sandra is a member of Actor's Equity.
Sandra was engaged for seven years at Theater des Westens in Berlin, Germany, where she performed extensively in Musicals and Operetta. She a
lso toured throughout Germany with the ensemble "Operetten Express". In the U.S., Sandra has toured nationally with "Man of La Mancha" and "Carousel", and has performed leading roles in many regional theaters. She also performed in the Off-Broadway Musical "Mamaleh". Sandra has performed in over fifty productions of Musicals, Operetta, and Opera. Sandra not only focuses on singing techniques to build your support and vocal strength, but also helps with understanding sheet music and acting within a musical piece. She is extremely personable and friendly. She has helped my son expand his vocal range, and she taught him vocal techniques to use to develop his voice. My son does musical theatre, and Sandra has taken a significant amount time during each lesson to help him sing the songs comfortably and understand the acting stand point in each song. "Here you will find an ally in your search for excellence.
I've had five private voice coaches in my life and Jessica is the finest. As one might expect a
fter viewing her resume, she is an excellent musician with a rarefied degree of training. What her resume doesn't tell you is that she is a gifted educator who not only understands vocal production but also is able to think of several different ways to communicate a single concept.
I recall a couple of my (otherwise talented) voice teachers as frustrated performers whose cynicism informed my lesson time. This is not an issue you need to worry about with Jessica. She has performance gigs and is happily active in her professional community. One may secure her time safe in the knowledge that the lesson will be about the pupil.
Possibly the most distinguishing aspect of studying with Jessica is her facility for problem-solving. Whenever tell her about a physical sensation or an emotional reaction I am having while vocalizing, she not only listens and is supportive but she also takes the extra step of formulating a plan to address the issue. It is this extra step that sets her apart as a teacher. There are not many instructors in the performing arts whom upon hearing, "Wow, I feel really weird when I do 'X'," will subsequently diagnose the physical source of the reported weirdness and then have both the patience and focus to suggest and implement techniques to overcome it.
While I am an adult student, I would not hesitate to recommend Jessica as a teacher for children and teenagers new to training in the arts. I have talked with her enough in the few minutes before and after lessons to know that she genuinely likes young people and has purposely and enthusiastically taken jobs teaching them in the past.
