I've been playing Flute for 34 years, teaching Flute for 20 years and my students have gone on to Music Degrees. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to learn how to make a good sound and as time goes on you'll be able to play Christmas Music. I specialize in Classical and Jazz, typically use Trevor Wye's Practice book for flute books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I have a 14 year old who has had the privilege to have Susan teach him the tenor sax - and he has advanced remarkably in a short time! She has worked with him in music tastes, etc... The take lessons service has been easy to set up and utilize, too. I would HIGHLY recommend...Excellent instructor (and good location for Delaware County folks) You won't be disappointed!

Janelle J. Philadelphia, PA

I have taught flute to children and adults over the years; some have gone on to have careers, musically, while others play purely out of enjoyment. I think performing is something that is good to at least try, so I have all my students participate in a yearly recital and I try to bring my students together at least once a year to play either duets, trios or flute choirs depending on how many students I have at the time.

About Janelle

I am a board certified music therapist who has been practicing for approximately 10 years. I have worked with children, teens and adults who are typical, have special needs or who have emotional needs. I understand the importance of music and creating and the role this plays in the well-being of people. I also specialize in brain injuries, autism and children with down syndrome. I am a teacher of flute, guitar, piano and music theory - I have been teaching on and off for the last 15 years. I love exploring musical genres and attempting to replicate them on the various instruments. As a performer, I prefer communal performing - I play in various ensembles - flute choirs, a group of friends getting together to jam, orchestras, or performing a large classical piece, solo. I also ...

Personable, reliable and relates well to my seven-year-old daughter who is just starting piano lessons. Strikes a good balance between teaching then reinforcing fundamentals (such as hand position and posture) and keeping the sessions low stress and engaging. Lesson rate at the upper end of the price range, but we are willing to continue with Janelle because she seems to fit our and our daughter's needs nicely. Would strongly recommend her.

About Adrienne

Why and how did I get into taking harp lessons? Well, as a young girl, I remember being mystified by the harp in Fantasia and when I was in high school, my dad found a teacher. After the first lesson, I was hooked and the rest is history! My 10 years of piano study and 8 years of flute background helped me advance quickly at the harp while starting at the age of 16. I began my higher education at Penn State University where I entered as a flute major because I was not quite at the advanced level of harp that was required at the college level. However, after playing principal harp with the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, I realized harp to be my true calling and switched my major instrument. I graduated from Penn State in 2009 with a BA Music degree and ...

Adrriene welcomed me into her very neat, well-lit and cozy house, and into an overall comfortable atmosphere. She was very warm and patient, and took my personal musical goals in mind. (I'm not planning to become a concert harpist, but to learn to play and enjoy the 19-string celtic harp that my wife bought me as a gift, and perhaps play in church.) With this in mind, she took off with the first lesson with a song that I've been wanting to learn for a very long time, and made it into an exercise. I should now, with a two-week time gap for practice, be able to learn to correctly position my fingers and pluck the strings with a clear and crisp sound. Looking forward to my second lesson.

great teacher for young students

Adrienne is a wonderful music teacher. She makes music easily accessible to young children (and their tone deaf parents). She is very patient, organized, and responsible. We highly recommend her.

My son had not agreed for me to register flute lessons for him before he started working with Sarah. I encouraged him to try. Only after few months learning flute with Sarah, now he loves it so much and wants to play flute in his school band. We are very happy and lucky to have Sarah as my son's flute teacher. She is very nice and she is an excellent teacher.

We only used Sarah for 2 sessions in home for my 14 and 12 y/o son’s for Spanish. She was patient, knowledgeable, and kind. My boys were resistant to tutoring so we ended our meetings. This is no reflection on Sarah. I think she did a wonderful job.
