Lisa C.

Rockwall, TX

About Lisa

I have been a music teacher and private lesson instructor for the past 17 years. I have a bachelor of science degree in Music Education and hold a teaching certificate for all-level Music Education. In my private studio I have taught students from 3-70 and have enjoyed them all! In addition to teaching music I also serve as the Music Minister for my church. Students coming to me can expect a tremendous amount of experience as well as a committed, honest and caring teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
For beginning piano students I like to use the Alfred series, supplemented, of course, with
songs/styles of music that interest the student.

Guitar, clarinet, and oboe students can expect to begin with the Essential Elements series as a primer and introduction. I've had a lot of success with these books.

Voice students are a bit different in that I don't use a specific method to instruct. I have many books that I draw from when teaching voice due to the unique nature of the individual. Depending on the style of music, from classical to jazz/pop, I have music that will teach proper breath support, vowel placement and tone.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home studio: converted dining room with 3 guitars, young percussion instruments, upright piano and f/w keyboard. Seating available for parents.
Music ministry at First Christian Church in Terrell. Access to choir room with upright piano. Seating available for parents.

*** Specialties ***
Degree in all-level music education with specialty in voice.

About TOYA

I have taught acting to small children, teens, and adults in community, private, and collegiate settings. I taught acting at the legendary Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. Kelly V.

Plano, TX

About Kelly

Kelly has been teaching music in the Plano area for more than 20 years. His main goal as a teacher is to help each student achieve his/her individual goals. Motivating the student and illustrating the proper techniques are what he considers to be his primary responsibilities. Kelly teaches his students all the things that nobody ever showed him.

His teaching philosophy is derived from a blend of two distinctly different schools of thought. On the one hand, there is the "by the book" music theory approach. This approach consists of reading music and understanding the theories behind compos
ition, chord construction, harmonization, etc. The other approach is a more free-wheeling style where playing by ear and actual playing experience provides most of the basis for teaching. He uses both perspectives to teach because he believes there are benefits to both styles.

Kelly does his best to keep each student excited about learning music.

Amber S.

Rockwall, TX

About Amber

I've been in Rockwall ISD's orchestra program for seven years and have studied for two and a half of those years with a retired cello professor.I have some experience teaching with my younger brother and my cousin, but have not yet given lessons to others although I am excited to do so. As a student myself, I can help beginner and intermediate cello students advance to a higher level of playing. I will focus a lot on basic form, posture, and balance as I see many young cellists struggle with these things, and then when their playing is at a level where I can no longer do much besides practice
with them, I will recommend another teacher who can help them develop further. If you are looking for someone who will sit and practice with the student and help them learn music, although it would not do much to help them, I am happy to do that as well.
Recently I also have added Spanish as one of my subjects. I took Spanish classes at Rockwall High School and went up through Spanish 4 at the International Baccalaureate level, earning a 6 on the final IB exam. Spanish is a useful and interesting language to have, especially here in Texas.
I look forward to teaching you/ your student :)
