After taking AP Spanish language from a strict Spaniard and I thought taking AP Spanish Literature with Katie was going to be a challenge but in fact it was a lot more entertaining than I though. The readings weren't too bad (think Shakespeare but in Spanish) but it was the interactive lessons that tied the readings back to work we were doing. Also the class discussions that followed our readings really helped me comprehend the type of classical Spanish we're not used to hearing on a daily basis.
Katie encouraged us to talk in Spanish and would offer extra credit if we worked on our grammar. I loved the fact that she didn't judge native speakers for having worse grammar than her regular students because the most important thing was that we didn't shy away from speaking Spanish. It's crucial to know Spanish especially in Texas and I highly recommend Katie to teach you. Not only is she patient but she's also extremely encouraging. Her teaching skills helped our class achieve almost all 5's on our AP exams."
