Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 9, Natalie knew music was something that was just a part of who she was. Writing songs on the piano before lessons could be scheduled, Natalie
found herself immersed in a medium that would bring her joy for the rest of her life.

By age 14 Natalie had won several trophies competing in Classical piano with the Illinois Music Association.

As an adult, she would go on to fill her life with the world of music as a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist.

Graduating from Elmhurst College (1997) with a Bachelor's in Music, Natalie received high accolades earning a membership in the Lambda Sigma Psi Music Honor Society.

During her college years, Natalie created and owned a local music publication called, "The Local Buzz". At this moment she had discovered her desire to teach. "I just wanted everyone I knew in music to know and use what I was learning, or had learned from the music classes, professionals I had been meeting and working with, and my overall music life experiences". By 1997, Natalie was signed to an independent label and embarked on a new adventure.

"Music is an adventure, but without the foundation and passion I had as a child, I would have never landed where I did. I truly LOVE to teach and share what I know about piano, and the world of music. Music is what I know, and know best. Helping to create a solid foundation and build confidence in someone embarking on a journey in music is the most rewarding profession I have ever had the honor of participating in."

I started tutoring student-athletes when I was in college. After I graduated with my BS in microbiology with minors in chemistry and Spanish, I was a tutor at a state college working with high school
and college students. I have also been privately tutoring students of all ages and levels.

I enjoy the learning process and the interaction between instructor and student, working together to solve problems and figure out concepts that were not clear before. I've always wanted to be a teacher and I hope to be a middle or high school science teacher in the future. I'm currently a grad student finishing my Master's in biomedical science and a substitute teacher.

I have earned good scores in history and English, but I feel more comfortable tutoring in algebra, chemistry, biology, statistics, and Spanish.

Christine was very instrumental in my B in statistic. I could have gotten an A had I been smart enough to engage her services at the beginning of the semester. She was very patient and knowledgeable and wouldn't let me give up on myself.

Teaching non-English speaking students the basic AND advanced fundamentals of English. The seven parts of speech are nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions
, conjunctions, and interjections.

I work at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels as an adult education instructor providing English instruction to classes or individual students.

As a ESL teacher, developing a curriculum that takes an overall approach to English study that focus on a specific aspect of language use, such as life skills, literacy, or vocational and workplace English. Both approaches involve teaching my students basic English skills, such as listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Classroom work consist of pronunciation techniques, quizzes, textbooks, videos and computer lessons. I often combine basic studies with real-life interactions involving language use in different situations, such as shopping, schooling, job hunting or working with English-speaking coworkers.

Awareness of the students' culture and I recognize differences that may affect a student's ability to acclimate to a English-speaking environment.

I prefer to discuss goals with my students and their parents to determine what they are most interested in ACHIEVING. Together create a lesson plan designed for the individual student.

The Pedagogical Foundations Of EnglishCentral

About Melody

Hello. My name is Melody Cook. I graduated from Valencia College with an Associate of Arts degree in Piano Performance.

I began learning to play the piano when I was five. As an adult, I pursued
other interests for several years, and returned to piano a few years ago. I studied Piano Performance for three years at Valencia college, and completed my degree in May, 2016, having received a GPA of 4.0 in all my classes.

As for my teaching experience, I was home schooled, so I taught some of my younger siblings reading, mathematics, and beginning piano. I have tutored children ages 5- 13 in reading and math. I worked as a daycare teacher off and on for a few years in my twenties, teaching children ages 2- 10. Currently, I am teaching a piano class in an after school program at a middle school, as well as teaching private lessons to all ages.

I spent four years in Russia and helped some of my friends who were learning English as a foreign language.

While in Russia I studied the Russian language at the university for a year, and am proficient enough to teach beginning Russian.

On my profile I stated that I can teach students with special needs. I want to clarify that I do not have training or experience in this area, but I would be happy to try teaching children with special needs. It would be important to me to meet with the parents before the first class to discuss the special need and what I would need to know to be able to teach their child well.

[April, 2016]: I have a few students with ADHD and/or high functioning Autism. They are great piano students! They enjoy playing the piano and do well with it, and I love working with them!
