Jayne J.

Roswell, GA

About Jayne

I hold Masters degrees in Applied Linguistics and Speech Pathology as well as a Bachelors degree in Education. I have taught both adults and children in university and private school settings, as wel
l as working with students privately.

I have extensive professional experience and training to help people who would like to reduce their accents, or who would like to improve their public speaking skills.

I have also tutored elementary and middle school students with their schoolwork and to help them prepare for standardized tests as well as students who are preparing to take the TOEFL exam.

I have had extensive experience in the business world and have worked with business professionals who are looking for jobs and who would like to improve their performance at work on speaking and writing tasks.

Some of the formal classes I have taught include conversation and oral communication, pronunciation in English, public speaking, TOEFL preparation (group lessons), reading (elementary school students), grammar, extensive reading (university level).

I also worked as the Curriculum Coordinator at a small private school (for adults) in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition, Jayne produced and hosted a weekly radio program in Boston. She also produced documentaries for Montgomery County Cable TV in Montgomery County, Maryland. One of her documentaries was nominated for a prestigious ACE Award.

I can speak Spanish at an intermediate level (and learned Spanish as an adult learner which has given me tremendous insight into the challenges that adults face when learning a new language).

Jayne is a perfect fit for me. First, she diagnosed my REAL issue--not the one I thought I had, benchmarked the issue and then set a plan to resolve it. Her approach is data and research driven, which resonates perfectly with my style. Her homework is always effective, and I've seen improvement after every lesson. For the first time, I've listened to my recorded voice without cringing!

Great experience with Ricky. He shared many resources and links with us and was able to keep my five year old engaged.

Great teacher! Very accessible and approachable person. My child enjoys learning Chinese from him. We meet at the first food restaurant for lessons so occasionally so my child has difficulty concentrating due to back ground conversation and restaurant noise.

Alexandra did a terrific job in preparing me to get around Romania. I travel there for work and she was excellent in helping me learn key phrases and sentence structure for someone visiting and getting around that country.

Alexandra is dope teacher! I wanted to start learning phrases and speaking basics, and have conversations for when I visit romania. She is generous with her time, excellent English to romanian communication/knowledge and she is charming.

So it's been a pleasure!
