Flexible and Accommodating Schedules

I am not the person taking the lessons. It is for my granddaughters, who are 5, 8, and 12. They practice daily and look forward to getting to the classes each week. Teaching takes a lot of patience.

John C.

Santa Clarita, CA

About John

With a pedigree going back to Beethoven, a bachelor's in music and a certificate in theory, harmony, and ear training from Berklee College of Music online, I have a broad and versatile musical background. My training began when I was in 6th grade and started taking piano lessons. By 9th grade I began competing in national private school fine arts competitions, and aside from my solo performance background I have had extensive experience accompanying, writing, and arranging music. I also come from a family of school teachers (both my parents, two aunts, and one uncle), and have extensive experience dealing with and teaching children (like tutoring, substitute teaching, coaching, and teaching in a church setting). Because of all this background, I feel well-prepared to not only bring a ...

John is a very knowledgeable, patient and professional teacher for my 7 year old beginner who is taking piano lessons with him. When my child has difficulty with a particular technique or lesson, John always tries to come up with different ways to explain it until she has a better handle in the area of difficulty. My daughter says, "Mr. John is very nice and plays the piano really good." Most private teachers watch the clock, but there have been numerous times John has stayed beyond his time to finish explaining something and making sure my daughter understands. I would definitely recommend John as a teacher for anyone considering lessons for any level student.

It was my first time ever having a guitar instructor and I wasn't too sure how it worked, or what to expect from it. Once I met Nanette I instantly got comfortable. She is insanely talented, and an amazing teacher. Also, Nanette is a really chill person to be around and learn from. When your in a session with her you totally feel like your just jamming and having fun. I look forward to seeing her every week! She has taught me so much in such little time. You wont regret having her as your instructor.

PPP - Professional, Patient, Precise (Exceptionally Outstanding)

For such a young person Nanette is at the very top of her game and she loves her profession. That love is felt and gives me much confidence in my ability to improve and one day perform a rock song.

She is very precise in explaining each note, how to arch your fingers and move between notes.

Take Lessons is very fortunate to have Nanette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been working with Cathy now for three months and I couldn't be happier! She is the first and last name in vocal coaching for the Santa Clarita Valley, in my opinion - she's cheaper than most of the other teachers out here, but has more experience with performing, touring, and working with vocally disadvantaged individuals (i.e., speech impediments, volume disparities, confidence issues, etc.) than anyone else my friend and I know of. She has helped me come out of my shell and boost my confidence more in the past few months than my own parents could do in my entire life! Working with Cathy, I was finally able to audition for one of the plays local to this area, something I've wanted to do for years, but always talked myself out of. Therefore, I credit Cathy with my success personally, and in the theater community out here.
In short, she is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED; she sends out a list of possible time-slots available for you (or your child) promptly after you contact her and can help expand your knowledge and technique of singing/acting/speaking in just a matter of a few lessons. :)

Learning to read music can be a daunting task for beginner singers!
