It's the best instrument, right? No matter where you are as a cellist, I'm happy to meet you right there and help you achieve your goals. Together we can explore new repertoire, work on sound production and intonation, and develop an arsenal of different expressive nuances. You'll be able to pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity you desire; I am as happy to work with beginners in casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. Hi, I'm Rachel. I just graduated from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester this May, with my Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. This summer I relocated to the Philadelphia area, which is where I am originally from. I have been playing cello since I was five years old & I have experience with the Suzuki method as well as other approaches. I teach music theory and give private cello lessons to students of all ages and levels. While my background is in classical music, my goal is to help my students master any piece of music they are excited about. I am so excited to share my love for the cello with any and all potential students.

I have been teaching cello since 1989.
Cello students of all ages and levels are accepted at my studio. All levels of the cello repertoire from the beginning through the Major Concertos will be taught. Students will be placed in courses according to the level of their current repertoire. The sequence of repertoire in the Suzuki Cello School will be used to place students.

I teach beginner cello primarily using the Suzuki books, but supplement with other materials when needed. My students work on scales and rhythm constantly to improve their tone and musicality as well as technique. I teach classical, religious, fiddle, and more. I also teach group ensembles, trios, quartets, and I work with students on their school orchestral and audition pieces.

I started playing with the Suzuki method at age 5. I have been teaching cello to ages 5 to adult for over 8 years. While not a concert or symphony level player, I have been providing quality lessons and guidance to beginners and intermediate players of all ages and interest for years. As with all of my lessons, I provide a core curriculum as well as customizing to the student's needs and interest. From Bach and other Suzuki classics, to modern favorites like The Beatles or Pirates of the Caribbean.
