今日は and welcome to learning Japanese, I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and culture from the Ohio State University, and I have tutored Japanese before and it really isn't as intimidating as it looks. I've learned through many ways and I have many many resources that I will gladly share with you so you can learn on your own, whether you're a beginner or advanced, I can direct you to how to become very fluent with all my knowledge and resources combined. Also as a bonus I will teach you some kanji calligraphy if interested as well.

We can focus on all four skills; speaking, listening, reading, and writing, but if a student would like to focus on only speaking, we can certainly do that as well. We also talk about cultural aspects of Japan and cover the vocabularies related to the cultural aspects.

I learned English from beginner level when I came to US and went through hard time learning a foreign language myself, so I can understand what would be the best way for you to learn with your language level.

During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a president of SUNY Albany Japanese Student Association and also worked as a TA for Japanese 101 classes, and I absolutely love to teach languages! I understand it is often very hard to find a language tutor outside of the spoken community, and I hope to provide you with the opportunity to be exposed to authentic media sources to acquire natural fluency. I'm a first generation half-Japanese American currently living in Boston, MA! I spent my childhood surrounded by Japanese language and culture, followed by 7 years of formal language training, culminating in a Japanese language minor at the University of Washington. My thesis focused on the manifestation of gender in Japanese performing arts.

Growing up bilingual, I understand the difficulty of trying to juggle two languages! Whether you want to learn a new language, or simply want to brush up on your Japanese skills, I am always happy to be of help! Lessons include reading, writing, listening, translating literature, and speaking (polite, casual, and formal styles). I use the Genki and Tobira books and also like to introduce students to classic and modern Japanese literature as a way to enhance the students’ cultural knowledge. I welcome beginning and intermediate Japanese students!

I want to help you to achieve your goals. My lesson starts from finding what students really need to learn. Understanding student is the key to success. I am very strong in teaching proper Japanese, including reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji with fun way. Also, casual, informal, practical Japanese too.
