Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.

I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.

I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!) I've been lucky enough to record and share the stage with famous Chicago musicians, such as Chris Siebold, Mark Colby, Frank Caruso, Jeremy Khan, and Marlene Rosenberg, among others. I have a 100% rate of getting my students into their school of choice as of yet. Although I don't guarantee it, I will work relentlessly to make sure you are well prepared though. I will also lend you PDFs of books to help you save a buck.

Learning drums is extremely fun and satisfying! It involves the entire body and the mind, challenging in many different ways and extremely rewarding.

While it can be demanding to learn an instrument, it can be as easy as you want it to be. Our lessons can be designed to fit your personal goal. In the lessons we will play songs, study technique and reading and learn different genres of music - all while having fun!

I have been teaching for over 10 years, with experience in all levels (Beginner to Advanced) and in every age group. I am very passionate about teaching music, I believe it has the power to change lives, and also helps with just putting a smile on your face :)

I have been playing drum kit and percussion for over fifteen years and teaching for about 12. I've played a little bit of everything - pop, rock, punk, hip-hop, ska/reggae, blues, jazz, and even musical theater. I'm happy to share my skills and expertise with drummers of all ages and skill levels (lessons at my studio will be on electronic kit).

Travis has worked with all ages, abilities and skill levels to achieve their musical goals. Lessons taught with patience and consistency have provided his students with the most important skills and concepts to play with confidence and proficiency. He will improve the students technique and creativity while introducing diverse styles of music. Students will implement the use of the rudiments and see how they might be applied to beats or fills on the drum set. Linear patterns and four way coordination patterns will be applied for developing good coordination skills and ambidextrous discipline in advanced players. Beginners will learn to grasp a feel of straight quarter, eighth and sixteenth note beats.
