Cello Lessons in Sunshine. Amazing Teachers.

Hi, I'm Rachel. I just graduated from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester this May, with my Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. This summer I relocated to the Philadelphia area, which is where I am originally from. I have been playing cello since I was five years old & I have experience with the Suzuki method as well as other approaches. I teach music theory and give private cello lessons to students of all ages and levels. While my background is in classical music, my goal is to help my students master any piece of music they are excited about. I am so excited to share my love for the cello with any and all potential students.

In my lessons, my primary focus is helping students learn cello at their own pace, and developing their love and appreciation for music! Cello can be challenging, but anyone can learn with the right guidance! I have a conservatory training, and years of experience teaching people of all ages how to play. Students will learn technique, music reading, scales and arpeggios, and basic music theory in a comfortable and encouraging environment!

You will learn correct posture, note reading, tone production, and listening/duet skills. I will guide you through method books.I will accompany you on piano on the material and selections you like.
I have been teaching cello for 4 years. I have my own materials to help you advance in cello literacy. I want to be your next instructor.

It's the best instrument, right? No matter where you are as a cellist, I'm happy to meet you right there and help you achieve your goals. Together we can explore new repertoire, work on sound production and intonation, and develop an arsenal of different expressive nuances. You'll be able to pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity you desire; I am as happy to work with beginners in casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. Did you really think you were going to get away with skipping your scales and arpeggios, though? We're going to have to tackle some of those no matter what.

I offer a well rounded approach to learning cello with customized lessons that focus on creating a beautiful tone, healthy technique, music theory, history, sight-reading, and developing collaborative playing skills. Always striving to keep learning fun and engaging, our lessons will progress at an individualized pace. I find great joy in playing cello and hope to share my knowledge and love for music with you!

I believe that all students are unique, and I enjoy being flexible, incorporating my style with students needs. I have over 15 years of experience beginner to advanced levels, with students 3 years old to adults.
