About Melissa

I received my Bachelor of Music (Voice) and Master of Music (Voice) degrees at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 2009 and 2011. I have been singing professionally since 2005. Among my courses at CCM were Music Theory and Aural Skills. English and grammar have always been a passion of mine. Having studied German, French, and Italian, I have had extensive exposure to translation, sentence structure, and grammar. I have taken piano and voice lessons for 10+ years.

A few companies I have had engagements with outside of Cincinnati are the New York City Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Gotham Chamber Opera, and Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. In Cincinnati, I have worked with the Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Vocal Arts Ensemble, Collegium Cincinnati, Nanoworks Opera, and many other

s.

I have been teaching voice lessons since January of 2012 and have taught beginning piano as well. My professional website is melisaharveysoprano.com

I look forward to working with you!

Patient, good humored, and knows her stuff. This was a brilliant first lesson and I am thrilled with the outcome, already on to a full song challenging me to do transitions and tempo. She is great at working with the student to find out where they need help and when they can go fast.

Anna has taught my daughter piano for several years and my son violin for one year. She is kind, engaging and challenging (in a good way) as an instructor. My daughter's proficiency has soared under her instruction.

About Kayla

Hello!
Thanks so much for visiting my profile :)
My name is Kayla, I'm an operatic mezzo-soprano with performance degrees from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
I have been performing for over a decade and have appeared in operas, musicals, and concerts in the NYC area and internationally.
In addition to voice and audition prep, I also teach guitar, piano, and song writing.
I am an alumna of LaGuardia High School of the Arts and would be happy to help any student looking into auditioning there or preparing for NYSSMA.
While opera is my specialism and I love teaching students to sing in new languages, I also sing and teach in a variety of styles including musical theatre, indie rock, and jazz. A student can bring any type of music into a lesson and we will have you singing

it with ease in no time! Whether you're looking to learn to sing in any style, get acquainted with the piano, strum along to your favorite songs, or improve your ear, I'm here to help! I want to give each student the same positive experience that I've had with music.

Steven M.

About Steven

Hello, I'm Steven! I've been a band geek since 6th grade, and am currently 21 years old. I started playing trombone back then and have since picked up and learned every brass instrument I could get my hands on. I've played with bands of all shapes and sizes, including Symphonic, Marching, Jazz, Rock, New Orleans parade, and more. I've played in school settings with Osborne Middle School, GACS High School and Kennesaw State University and in public performances with bands like The Black Sheep Ensemble (New Orleans style parade music), The Windy City (Chicago cover band), and Trombone Choirs. My favorite genre since middle school has been jazz but I have many close seconds in Funk, Rock, Pop, Chamber music, etc.

I started teaching after class in High School with younger students that wanted help with their playing tests. Over time I realiz

ed that I could relate musical concepts with other interests and experiences to help students understand them more quickly and with a better grasp. Around the same time, I also realized that students like to play the music they are interested in. This is fine if a student likes the music the band is playing, but sometimes I find that the music being played in typical Band class might not quite match the music the student is interested in.

I pride myself in offering personalized music to my students that gives them something THEY want to play, rather than what the band wants them to play. I have found that this encourages individuality not only as a player but also as a person. At the end of the day, my main goal is to get my students to the place where they can play the music they want to play with the sound they are looking for. It's always a pleasure for me to meet musicians and I look forward to meeting you and helping you play your favorite music!
