"Karen’s recitals, showcasing 6 to 12 students each time, always thrill
me. Men, women, boys, & girls of all ages and various degrees of
achievement stand before their audience with confidence. They have
practiced, not only the pieces which they play, but showmanship, not
pushy or cocky, but polite and welcoming. They make eye contact and
smile; some invite the crowd to sing along on the choruses. Even the
1st year students exude confidence.

The crowd returns those smiles, along with cheers and clapping. One
can tell that Karen has kindly and persistently shown and encouraged
each student. If any show fear, she does not chide; she accompanies
them in the performance and nods approval as they continue. I watch
that fear subside. They are then met with handshakes and pats on the
back. Next time, they will be even more eager to share the pieces that
they worked on and not expect criticism.

Karen picks a theme and arranges guitar, piano, and voice selections,
intermingled into a program that leaves a person well entertained and
planning to come back next time. I am not related to any of the
participants and have no obligation to be at the recitals. I love the
music, the talent, and the progress that I see and hear. You, too,
will be glad you came."

Suzan is thoroughly knowledgable about music theory and composition and movement. Her piano skills are excellent especially when seen in the arena of jazz improve composition on the fly with a group of professionals. She can sight read complicated charts and sing beautifully at the same time, for songs she has never done, and these are the challenges that true musicians thrive upon.

As a TL teacher of children also, I can see that Suzan is very family friendly and cheerful, kind and helpful. All good signs of an excellent teacher! Your Kids will love her.

"My son takes beginning band with Nick. This group of very young players is learning how to hear a piece of music, break it down, play it together, and make it their own. Along the way, Mr. Nick teaches them theory, technique, and joy in playing music. Nick has the patience of a saint. His expertise is in guitar and banjo, but he knows his way around the whole band, and can teach rhythm and technique on a wide range of instruments. I highly recommend. Note, we’ve done lessons both on line and in person. Both were good."
