About Benjamin
I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, where I extensively studied the anatomy of the voice. I am the founder of BAWS Studio where we train artists in all aspects of performance (singing, songwriting, recording, piano, and guitar). I previously worked for a recording studio (Sound Summit Studios in Naperville IL) where I teach voice and help singers record their music in the studio. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the World.

I have a bachelors
degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectations that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.

*** Lesson Details ***
Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer's voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.

During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.

So far, lessons with Ben have been VERY good (and productive! I'm naturally a reserved person, but He has gotten me to push beyond my comfort zone (that is "be louder"), which in retrospect has also helped me build my confidence in other areas. So at this point I look forward to having lessons, because I am growing in my understanding of how to use this God-given gift; a gift that's meant to be shared (not hidden away in silence).

About Tamari (Tamara)
Hi, there! I'm Tamara and I can't wait to meet you!

On social media and for those who are more familiar, I'm Tamari. We all learn in different ways; some are more visual; others, auditory; some, kinesthetic--I combine a number of different modalities in my teaching, including direct feedback-teaching--once you learn a concept or skill, teach it, as soon as you possibly can, to someone else! -- this reinforces your own knowledge of the skill or concept!
I've been teaching private lessons for many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment
to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I attended Indiana University's distinguished Jacob School of Music where I earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults. Within the 10 most recent years, I served as Music Director in Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran Churches, as it is my firm conviction that Music is a universal language which can help deepen the prayer experience while helping to bring comfort and joy.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

I have known Tamari professionally for fifteen years.
She is an excellent music teacher for piano and voice. Her expertise is noticeable as she patiently meets her student at his/her level and guides that student to the next step.
The process is perfect for any student, even if developmentally challenged and for any age. I highly recommend Tamari.

I've been consistent weekly taking yoga lessons from Tamari at the Y in Canaan CT. I try not to miss it. She's a compassionate and caring yoga teacher and will trailer her classes to fit your needs. Her classes are good for newbies and seniors and those who want a simple class. No athletics. Hatha Yoga are basic yoga stretches that will make you feel good after participating . My aches and pains are gone after each session. To be continued....

Tamara is a very highly qualified, and extremely capable musician and instructor. While away on a leave from my position as music director at a local church, Tamara planned and provided the music for services, and led the congregation's music programs in my absence. While I was away, it was a great comfort to know that Tamara provided quality music for each service. In addition to demonstrating an extraordinary level of musicianship, Tamara is a dependable, and dedicated professional. I am pleased to provide my strongest recommendation!

About Brandi
My name is Brandi and I am ready to become your music teacher! Playing the guitar has been my passion for 13 years and counting. As a part of the talented music program throughout my high school years, I decided that I wanted to pursue music as a profession. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University for music performance and focused on the classical guitar as my primary instrument. I have played many gigs ranging from open mic nights, accompanying a choir, classical guitar ensembles consisting of up to 12 people, and my solo recitals. I also play the electric guitar, ukulele and the piano, with recently expanding interests for electronic music and synthesis.

My goal since graduation has been to make teaching lessons my full time occupation. Building up a studio certainly doesn't happen overnight so I have come here to expand my ava
ilability to the internet! As your instructor, I can help you to learn any and all of the things that you want to accomplish on the guitar even if you are a complete beginner. Don't wait to create - we can progress together!

Great feedback from the concert! Now Brandi's been working with me on basic classical - reading two or three lines at a time and going up and down the neck of the guitar with just the sheet music! No Tab Charts!! For me this has always been extremely hard, and probably the hardest musical skill for me overall is reading multiple lines simultaneously. Not great yet but - in quite a short time - have come Much farther than I was and am finally figuring out how to do it. Brandi has been super encouraging and patient and explains every step along the way when I get stuck - even multiple times if needed :)! Playing my normal rock or jazzy stuff with a lot more ease and "know-how" than before. She makes being pushed to your limits not only productive but also enjoyable.

About Matthew
Hello, my name is Matthew F. and I am a professional opera singer based out of Philadelphia. As a current roster musician with Philadelphia Opera, I know what it means to perform at some of the highest levels houses in the country. My travels have taken me across the country, singing in over 20 productions in the last three years. Now, I am returning back to Philadelphia to teach full time as I once had. Previously a student teacher at the Masterman School, I have had a true passion for music education for as long as I have been a musician. My students have grown both personally and musically through our tenure together. This is because I offer lessons that not only grow your singing ability but help to enhance your comfort for performance, public speaking, and general engagement in the production of sound. Through our lesson plans, you w
ill even begin to see changes in how you speak as our core focus will be on breath control, vowel placement, and healthy vocalizing so that you may feel comfortable singing any genre of music. While we will focus on classical training, I want to work with you on whatever repertoire you’d like! If you’re preparing for your school’s musical, a great karaoke with friends, or just some fun shower singing, I will get you there.

Matthew has been excellent! He took the time to get to know my goals and really understands what I’m looking for. After just a few lessons, I’ve learned a lot about opera/classical singing from the ground up and have already developed a much deeper appreciation for singers. I can’t recommend Matthew highly enough.

Hello! I'm Evan, and I love to play and teach percussion!

I studied percussion at The Juilliard School for my master's degree, University of Michigan for my bachelor's degree, and the Interlochen Arts Academy. I am Miami-based, and I regularly perform with New World Symphony, Nu Deco Ensemble, Conduit, and Miami City Ballet, and am Principal Percussion of the Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach Symphonies.

I enjoy working with students to help them reach their full potential in music, and in life. I use percussion as a vehicle to teach excellence, no matter what path the student ends up pursuing as a career.

I have performed around the world in Europe, Africa, and North America in venues such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, the deYoung Museum in San Francisco, and Carnegie Hall. I have shar
ed the stage with Grammy Award-winning musicians including members of the ensemble eighth blackbird, song-writer and organist Cory Henry, and vocalist Hila Plitmann. These experiences all inform my teaching style and the breadth of information I am able to share with my students.

Please let me know when you would like to set up a lesson and we can work together to reach your goals!

Hi! I am a member of the all-female band Atrocity Girl, a local Women's Studies professor (yep, I have a PhD!), and I have been playing and teaching drums for 15 years. As a woman, I especially love empowering girls and women through this amazing--and loud--instrument. There is no time like the present to begin your musical journey. I love all genres of music, but particularly like playing rock. Each lesson is tailored specifically to you; depending on your skill level, you will learn rudiments, songs, fills, theory, or how to work on your showmanship for an upcoming gig!
