Our voice is such a unique instrument, because it is inside of us. It makes the act of singing amazing and hard at the same time, because we all have different instruments and there is no general rule that works for everyone in the same way. When I teach, I always take into consideration the uniqueness of the voice I am working with, and this requires a great deal of attention and sensitivity. Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. We record you all the time in a recording studio environment. Then you will benefit from getting used to that voice that only you can hear. This is like having your own producer!

I am no throat specialist, but, I have accompanied singers for decades and may have some suggestions to help you. From breathing to posture to intonation, to energy, enunciation and more, there is a lot to cover.

I will accompany your singing at the keyboard all the time. I will also encourage your recording with karaoke tracks as well. Listening to yourself is exciting and helpful. Get over that insecurity. Come sing with confidence!

I have studied voice for over ten years, and have been teaching voice professionally since 2015, including two years of teaching experience at the university level. My students have ranged in age from graduate students, to high schoolers, and have been admitted to prestigious conservatories and ensembles. I am comfortable teaching all genres.
