Flute is a joy to play, for those simply looking for a hobby, and for more focused study.

As a music educator I have years of experience teaching privately and in classrooms, for individuals and groups. I craft lessons to the needs and interests of each student, to ensure they are getting the most of our time together. Many of my students enjoy, for example, video game and TV show music - so, these pieces are some of the repertoire we'll work on together. My goals as a teacher are to instill proper playing technique, guide how to shape the music, establish good practice habits, and above all find ways to connect students with the music they're studying. At the end of the day, we play music because it's fun!

About Alison
Thank you for visiting my profile!

As a professional musician, I have played in various ensembles including orchestras, opera companies, wind ensembles, chamber groups, musicals and more. The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO), presenting 3-5 concerts a year, has been my orchestral home since 2013 and I have had the privilege of playing principal oboe with them all throughout.

My son is currently taking online lessons with Lucas and we're both quite happy with the experience so far. My son has been playing tenor for 4 years (currently 10th grade- in concert, jazz and marching bands at school) and had only ever taken live lessons before, but we're finding that online works out well. No extra travel time/hassle, which is great since he doesn't drive yet- just log online from our basement. Lucas had good availability and has been open to reschedule as necessary. Lucas has helped him with pieces for honor band auditions so far with specific feedback and even I can hear the difference in my son's playing.

Being new to the online lesson format, I was skeptical at first, and have waited about 5 lessons to write this review. I am really glad we (randomly) picked Lucas to help my 6th grade son get started with saxophone. I'm so impressed with Lucas' ability to gauge through at at times imperfect internet connection what feedback to give my son. Lucas is excellent at giving instruction in understandable, and usable bites of information. The lessons are well paced and I can hear my son improve over the course of every lesson. The convenience of the online lesson cannot be overstated- we live in a rural area where finding an teacher and getting to a lesson was challenging to fit into our schedules, so it is amazing to have such great instruction on a schedule that fits in with our life. I would definitely recommend Lucas specifically, and the takelessons format to anyone looking for saxophone lessons.

I teach flute students of all levels.

About Yuh-Jiun
-Bachelor of Music in Flute performance - University of California, Santa Barbara (2009-2013)

-Master of Music in Flute performance - Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, CSULB (2015-present)

Current Principle Flute of Bob Cole Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony.

Current Flute player in Bob Cole Conservatory Wind Quintet.

Current and past students include: principle flute of Diamond Bar High School Wind Ensemble, principle flute of Pacific Symphony of Youth Wind Ensemble, 1st flute of Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra.

I am a music teacher and musician in the Los Angeles area. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. I started my music education at the age of three; it started with clapping, rolling around on the floor, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. I was fascinated by the magic that music possesses; as Rimsky-K
orsakov unfold a tale of an enchanted land, with camel-riding merchants, bazaar, and princesses, without uttering a single word. I went on to learn a few instruments: xylophone, three different kinds of recorders, and then all this eventually led to flute.

I started studying flute at the age of 8, and it has been a delightful journey. In high school, I have participated in marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, and symphonic orchestra. I was also part of two prestigious local youth orchestra, the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Claremont Young Musician Orchestra.

I obtained my Bachelor of Music (Flute Performance) degree from University of California, Santa Barbara. I grew immensely as a musician during my time in Santa Barbara, I studied under Jill Felber, and I was able to expand my repetoire and gain considerable experience. I even played at the local farmers market as a street performer during the weekends. After graduation , I traveled to my home country Taiwan to study another great musician - Anders Norell, the principal flutist/flautist of the Taiwan Philharmonic. It was another great opportunity as I was able to garner teaching experiences, as well as attending master classes of great flutist/flautist such as Emmanuel Pahud.

As a music teacher, I encourage and inspire. I am foremost a music lover, then flutist and flute teacher. I aspire to spread the abundance of joy and beauty that music has bring into my life. As the great conductor and cellist Pablo Casals puts it: "Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart". Therefore, whether if you are a wobbly toddler, high school marching band enthusiast (as I once was), house wife looking for a new hobby, full time employee who always had a love for classical music, or grandmother who is looking for something other than crochet, join me on this wonderful journey.

"The pursuit of music would provide you a life time of joy".

I am a very experienced flute player and teacher with many years of experience. I am currently a senior studying flute performance at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and I am very understanding and helpful in lessons. I try my hardest to explain things in as many ways to help students learn individually, as every student learns in different styles.

About Sarah
Hello! I am currently in my first year of my Masters at NYU where I am studying flute performance, where I am studying under Soo-Kyung Park. I am also an Adjunct Instructor at NYU, where I teach undergraduate NYU students private flute lessons. I recently graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music this past May, where I received a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a minor in art history. While at IU, I studied under Kathryn Lukas and participated in various ensembles and concerts, focusing mainly on chamber music.

I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, where I studied under Christina Smith, the principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony, and I also participated in a numerous amount of masterclasses and performances with many different flutists. I have been playing the flute for 16 years, and I have been playi
ng the piano for 18 years. I also play the piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, clarinet, and the guitar.

I have been teaching the flute for over 8 years. I have taught students of all ages and levels. I also have worked with high school students in assisting with flute sectionals through the band program.

I am experienced with a large variety of styles, and I am open to exploring different types of music.

My goal is to give students the ability and resources to grow to become an overall musician. I work hard to find out how different students learn, and I adjust my teaching style to fit different learning needs. I aim to help students find a passion in playing music, so I try an find out what interests a student and work to incorporate that into flute playing. I am very encouraging and enthusiastic in my teaching.

Please contact me with any questions :) Also feel free to check out more about me at my website sarahabramsflute.com

Playing the flute has been my passion for 11 years! And because I want to share that love for music, I got my degree in music education. I also have experience teaching flute to a variety of levels and ages, from 3rd grade to adult. In lessons, we will work to develop good tone and technique while learning a wide range of music. My goal for you is to enjoy making music as you reach your full potential as a flautist!

About Moriah
Hello! I am a flautist who is passionate about classical music of all kinds. I love playing in ensembles and have been in eight bands in my career. Of those, four have been honor bands, one an Alabama's All State band where I placed 2nd in the state for piccolo. Orchestra music is another passion of mine, and I have been in four orchestras so far. The last orchestra I was in was the PCCymphony where I was the principle flautist for three and a half years. Performing with other ensembles, such as flute choir, woodwind ensemble, and soloing for string, brass, and handbell ensembles, have helped shape me into the musician I am today.

But I also have had a wide range of experiences that help me as a teacher get you to the best you can be. In performance, I have played solos, duets, and in woodwind ensembles for the Campus Church of Pens
acola which has 4,000+ every Sunday. For those interested in recording, I do have some experience there as well in recording for Rejoice Radios CD for 2017. And most recently, in a competition I was awarded first place in the woodwind category for 2018.

The Lord has blessed me to be able to make music for Him, and I would love to help you grow in your musicianship as well! Together we will have fun while working on your goals. I can't wait to get started!
