I have been playing the guitar for 13 years. As a recent graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University, I have been teaching guitar and ukulele lessons as well as classes since the spring of this year (2017). I hold a bachelor's degree in music performance with my primary instrument being the guitar.
I can help you to acquire a solid foundation of music theory knowledge. You can help to better understand music theory concepts if they are paired with guitar techniques to supplement them.
If you are a complete beginner, do not be afraid! I will help you to learn at a pace which is comfortable but still effective for you. These lessons will be focused and designed to fit YOUR needs. Let's learn together :)

I have played guitar for over 35 years professionally and currently do as well. As a music major at Broward college I studied theory and am able to apply and explain this in my teachings. i.e Rudiments, The staff guitar tabs, scales, chords, inversions, box systems, linear and horizontal scales, modes. etc. I can teach, rock, pop, classical and other genres of guitar, and have done extensive research in finger picking styles. Most importantly, when a student wants to learn a particular song, instead of showing it to them, I show them the process and give them the tools and theory behind figuring it out for themselves.

I aim to instill a love of music and of the instrument through both student guided song selections from popular genres and movie/video game soundtracks, as well as technical and music reading exercises designed to make my students well rounded and ready for any way they choose to pursue music.

I've been teaching guitar, acoustic and electric, for fifteen years. The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I like to begin by letting the student lead.

I believe anyone can play guitar. In most situations, we can learn the basics of playing some of your favorite songs in under a month. In the first few lessons we will learn open position chords and the basics of strumming and picking in 4/4 and 3/4 time. After you've memorized half a dozen or so songs this way, we can attempt barre chords and lead guitar playing.

I spend a lot of time gearing my lessons to each specific student. Obviously we will learn songs that you are interested in. But in addition to that I write out specific exercises to help my students learn while also making it something that is fun and interesting to play so that we are not tied solely to learning from a book when it is not necessary. I can also help with songwriting, improvisation and other creative pursuits. The genres I am well versed in are pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, funk, etc.
