As a professional opera singer and recitalist, Rachel uses her first-hand experience in the business to guide her students and to teach them healthy vocal technique. Her students find her to be energetic, warm, and one of her biggest goals is to make her students feel more empowered when they leave than when they arrived. Music is a transformative art form and she hopes to enrich her student’s lives.

Learning proper singing technique is essential for the health of singers of all ages and genres. And YES! Everyone can sing! Rachel personalizes each lesson to her students' needs and provides a safe and fun atmosphere that is essential to creative learning. Musicianship, better intonation, breath control, support, tone quality, freedom of sound, and a love of music are all topics covered in voice lessons.

I am an experienced musician and performer with a variety of teaching skills gained over 20 years of study and action. Lessons in my studio are about so much more than just learning to sing a song or write music. Students are instilled with business knowledge, work ethic, and confidence so that they can truly accomplish whatever they set their minds to. We go deep and focus on how to develop new mental and physical habits that can help the student better express his/herself. We work hard on a curriculum that is specifically catered to the student's needs, and of course, is fun too!

I've worked with students from ages 6-65, with varying backgrounds and interests. From complete beginners to professional performing artists. All students are guaranteed to see improvement in their technical skills within the first month of lessons. Let's do this!

I have a simple, no-nonsense approach to vocal training, helping students build the vocal strength and coordination necessary to sing efficiently, using principles and exercises learned through over a decade of intensive vocal study in NYC.

Please be advised that I expect students to learn their music on their own (although I'll certainly give you some learning strategies, help with tricky passages, etc.). If you are looking for someone to "teach you the notes," I'm probably not who you're looking for. But, if you want to learn how to sing well and are willing to put in the work, I'd love to help you achieve your goals!

I teach music from a holistic perspective. My approach marries theory, musicianship, and technique with the emotional engagement and storytelling qualities inherent to good, evocative music. Lessons are created and curated for you, your specific goals, and learning preferences. My students learn not only how to make music but how to understand it. I try to make lessons fun and engaging for students of all ages (5+) and abilities (brand new - advanced).

I have performed at Carnegie Hall and alongside great jazz musicians such as Dave Douglas, Wayne Bergeron, Donny McCaslin, Randy Brecker, Ada Rovatti, Charlie Shoemake, and Grammy Award winner Louie Ortega. Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, CA, my studies at Cuesta College, Cal Poly, and the Central Coast Jazz Institute have helped me become an active and versatile working

I teach vocal lessons for all ages and all experiences. I want to help people understand how their voice works, how to use it well and to ultimately enjoy singing. My lessons (can) include breathing exercises, warm-up exercises, sight-singing, ear training and then working on a specific repertoire. Each lesson is crafted to my students goals and desires for personal growth and knowledge.
