As a professional cellist with 20 years of playing experience spanning many styles and genres and multiple orchestras and performing groups throughout the US, I am passionate about the spreading the joy of music to students of all ages and levels! Although I use several reputable resources including the Suzuki method and technique books from Rick Mooney (Position Pieces, Thumb Positions, Double Stops), I believe it is true that every student is different and that there is no such thing as a "one-size-fits-all " approach. I'm here to see YOU succeed and help YOU meet YOUR goals!

I teach through a traditional style where learning notation is paramount. Proper technique and finger placement will propel us into playing classical pieces and studies.

I am an experienced strings teacher with 25 years of experience. I will work with beginning cello students of all ages and provide instruction on proper technique, position, reading music and playing the cello. I am patient and provide constructive feedback and work at your pace.

Cello:
A bowed or plucked string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The strings from low to high are generally tuned to C2, G2, D3 and A3, an octave lower than the viola. It is a member of the violin family of musical instruments, which also includes the violin and viola and the double bass. The cello is used as a solo musical instrument, as well as in chamber music ensembles (e.g., string quartet), string orchestras, as a member of the string section of symphony orchestras, and some types of rock bands. It is the second-largest and second lowest (in pitch) bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra, the double bass being the largest and having the lowest (deepest) pitch. My lessons always start out with the basics! We start out by learning notes by plucking the strings and then the bow is soon incorporated. I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons.
