I have been playing the acoustic guitar for 13 years. As a recent graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University, I have been teaching guitar and ukulele lessons as well as classes since the spring of 2017. I hold a bachelor's degree in music performance with my primary instrument being the guitar.
I can also help you to acquire a solid foundation of music theory knowledge. You can better understand music theory concepts if they are paired with guitar techniques to supplement them.
If you are a complete beginner, do not be afraid! I will help you to learn at a pace which is comfortable but still effective for you. These lessons will be focused and designed to fit YOUR needs. Let's learn together :)

I've been teaching one-on-one lessons for about 25yrs, in Guitar, Bass, & Drums. Lessons are personalized & tailored to each student's needs & goals, in their own style of learning. No matter your age or ability, whether just for fun to learn a favorite song or something long term and serious, I do it all. I have a lot to share with you in all styles of music and playing. My method is centered around having my students consistently learn new material, while retaining what they have learned. I’m sensitive to making sure they are challenged while also giving them material that will enable them to succeed. I customize each lesson to meet the needs and interests of each student. An example of a 45 minute lesson commonly includes the first 5 minutes being dedicated to checking in on how the practice went, and answering any questions the student may have about the material. Then there would be 15 minutes of review which would consist of finding which parts of the material are most challenging and finding the most effective way for the student to practice those parts and perfect the material. After that, there would be a three minute pause during which the student would listen to the new piece (whether it be material I introduced or material they suggested) so they can write down everything that they enjoyed and perceived about the new piece. I've been teaching guitar for 14 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play many basic songs and as time goes on you'll be able to play your favorite ones and have learned many chords, strum patterns and techniques on your instrument. I specialize in getting you quick results so you are enjoying playing the songs you love while you progress with technique. I typically start beginners in open G tuning with familiar songs that I provide and openly take your suggestions of songs you want to learn. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
