I would like nothing better than to help you discover and develop your voice's greatest potential. Singing embodies many elements including proper tone production, rhythmic accuracy, proper diction and connecting to and sharing the emotional content of a song. It is a personal journey for singers to learn how to integrate all those elements into their own instruments and I will act as your trusted and supportive guide throughout the process. I have a master's degree in classical vocal performance from the renowned Manhattan School of Music and performed with opera companies in New York City. Currently, in New Orleans, I sing with the joyous Shades of Praise interracial gospel choir. I have had the privilege of studying with some of the finest voice teachers, conductors and coaches that America has to offer and I would love to share that combined knowledge with others. I have also had the agonizing and humbling experience of losing and rebuilding my voice after medical difficulties, ...

I've learned so much in a short period of time with Sheila. She is very easy to get a long with and not intimidating despite her distinguished resume. She has helped me immensely with the awareness of my voice and allowed me to explore my instrument in ways I hadn't try before. Sheila is patient and will continue to approach and explain a technique from different angles (with humour!) until it is grasped. Thanks to her I feel more confident and aware when I'm singing. So thank you very very much!

I enjoy most of all the back and forth between teacher and student and working together. A good teacher learns alot from his students as well as through teaching. There is no end to learning.

I am very flexible as far as location is concerned. I can travel to you. I am also highly proficient in online learning and can teach and convey concepts from anywhere.

I am also very active in the New Orleans music community and regularly play out in town and on tour. I have a wealth of knowledge about music business and how to be a professional musician.

Very good first lesson. Will continue with her.

Bebé is one of the best voice teachers I have ever had. I have had a few instructors who just run you through exercises and make you sing random songs, but Bebé takes the time to explain everything very thoroughly. She is very respectful and very flexible when it comes to scheduling. All you have to do is communicate any concerns with her and she makes sure to go out of her way to accommodate all of your needs. I have enjoyed every lesson that I have had with her and even on days where I don’t have the energy, she always finds a way to prep me up. I couldn’t have asked for a better teach and my voice has grown so much. I find it way easier to sing and hit notes that I had trouble with when first starting off. I recommended her to a few of my friends and will continue to do so to anyone looking for an experienced and amazing teacher.

This was my first piano lesson in 50 years. It was everything I hoped it would be... intellectual, fun, relaxed... and it filled me with hope that I could finally make something out of a musical instrument I left in the dust so many years ago. Jimi is wonderful to talk with and work with. This was beyond my expectations.

I've been playing piano by ear ever since I was 4 years old. In high school, I studied classical piano with one of the best instructors in the world. At university, I was bored with learning composition written by dead white men, so I decided to start composing my own pieces.

I'm excited to hear what your goals are with piano. Whether you're wanting to learn current pop songs, or classical pieces, I've got you covered.

About Ro

“I grew up in a small, dried-up oil and farming town in the middle of nowhere Nebraska,” says Ro Myra. “I spent most of my life running away from it, and now I’m right back where I started.” ‘Nowhere, Nebraska,’ Myra’s extraordinary debut, is more than just a musical homecoming, t

Ro is beyond talented. She helped my daughter, who was struggling emotionally, to have a creative outlet that she LOVES. It builds her confidence and she enjoys every single lesson. When my daughter sings songs that she wrote with Ro while playing piano I cry every single time. It actually creates a deeper love of music because it’s personal to her. It’s not like other lessons where she is memorizing music she can’t relate to, I cannot recommend RO enough. Ro has helped my daughter during this pandemic immeasurably!

It's been incredible to see my son grow in his songwriting, audio engineering, and guitar skills. Ro has been a great teacher and mentor for the past 3 years now, and I can see the huge positive impact she's had on Michael's life. I'm so grateful she offers online lessons.
Sheryl
My 6 year old daughter is always looking forward to her lessons with Ro every week. They seem to have so much fun together and my daughter is learning voice, piano, and songwriting at the same time. Ro really amazes me and I'm so glad that our friends recommended her to us.

What is Speech Level Singing?

With so many different terms out there describing vocal technique, it can sometimes be a bit confusing to distinguish what all of it really means, or to apply it to your vocal study and everyday practice. So What is Speech Level Singing Really?  Speech Level Singing, also known as SLS, is a singing technique that emphasizes the idea that singing is just as simple as speaking.
