Students can expect to grow as a well-rounded musician. I will teach the students about the basic fundamentals to the advanced methods of effective practices. As a professional musician, I will focus my time and energy on making sure students understand how much practicing can will improve playing. Students will have a weekly progress book. Playing the flute has given me so much joy, and it is my dream to pass that joy along to others. Music lessons can offer you so much more than a new skill or getting better at an instrument; they can improve your mental health, your confidence, and even help kids do better in school! Good music teachers teach their students how to find beauty in everything, to think more critically, and to see mistakes as opportunities for growth. These three ideas are at the core of my teaching philosophy. In all my lessons, beginner to advanced, students learn how to make beautiful music, sight reading, basic music theory, and safe practice strategies. We work out of the Rubank method book, but I also utilize handwritten exercises. I also always encourage my students to bring music they want to learn!

Kasumi is an alumni of The United States Army Field Band, where she spent 7 years from 2009-2016 performing and teaching. Equipped with high quality technology in computers, recording devices and cameras, she is ready to give you an all-encompassing online educational flute experience.

Sarah is a thorough lesson planner who designs unique lessons for every student. She also provides detailed lesson summaries after each lesson so you can take everything you learned back to your practice sessions and stay on track! She is passionate about heathy technique and injury prevention. Her lessons always include helpful full-body and musical warmups, a focus on developing solid fundamentals, and opportunities to learn new concepts through student-selected music that is fun and relatable!

I teach students of different levels, and I adapt to the needs of each student. Students will be asked to study tone and technical exercises in addition to their repertoire to help them progress in both fundamental and musical aspects of their playing.

If the student is studying flute in school, they can bring that material for additional help, or we can work on other repertoire to create further challenges outside of the classroom.
