Drum Lessons

My name is Itamar and I would love to help you become a better drummer! I have been playing the drums for past 16 years in a variety of musical configurations. I have played in venues throughout the world, including Mezzrow Jazz Club (NYC), Internationales Jazzfestival Bern (Bern Switzerland, and Beit Hamudim (Israel) among many others. I also hold a BM in drum performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. I work with the student to develop a lesson plan tailored to their individual interests and ensure they get as much as possible out of each lesson.

I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

As a kid I remembered the feeling after my first drum lesson and couldn't wait to go back to my next one. My goal is to make YOU a better player and have you continue to strive for success! I adapt to any custom goals that my students want to reach as well as giving you the tools that you need to reach those goals! I look forward to working with you soon! :)

I have been playing drums for more than 10 years and have been teaching for more than 3. Throughout that time, I have played across the country in New York City and even in Japan. I am currently a Jazz Studies Major at Sacramento State University. My goal is to make every student a well-rounded drummer who knows whats going on when they are in any type of musical situation. My favorite style to play is jazz, but I am well-rounded in all other styles such as rock, Latin, blues, funk, and country.

In my lessons, I base the material on the student depending on how advanced they are. If the student is just starting out, I will teach them the basics such as holding the drumsticks properly, basic rudiments, reading rhythms, learning about the hardware, and so on.

I've been teaching for 10 years professionally. My teaching style is motivating students to achieve their fullest potential. My goal as a teacher is to give the highest quality learning experience to all students! I pride myself on being both technically advanced as a drummer and skillfully adept at explaining complex material.

I can teach all areas of percussion from mallets and music theory to drum set and rudimental snare drum.
