Anyone who can teach me the intricacies of the clarinet deserves a prize. Tyreese qualifies. Tyreese is patient, detailed, and of course, very knowledgeable. He's just very good at teaching music and I made progress that frankly surprised me. Of course I recommend him. I'm glad I had the opportunity to study clarinet with Tyreese.

I am an emotive cellist with two decades experience. I have toured internationally performing my original works including London, Paris, and Berlin. As a member of the Pierce Quartet I regularly arrange and perform music for weddings and other special occasions. I love sharing classical music with all levels of students. Lessons with me are calm, meditative experiences where we use peaceful techniques to enter into the heart of music.

Lenna educates with patience, expertise, and humor. She was fantastic at turning my overly negative self-critiques into poignant and positive learning points. She helped me help myself, and consequently my cello playing got way, way better. Thanks Lenna!

Take lessons with a Broadway veteran!

I've been teaching private voice and acting coaching for over 5 years and LOVE seeing my students improve! I am a working singer/actor, and writer/musician in NYC, but I love teaching so much that I do it even while I'm working on projects!

A little bit about me:
I graduated from University of Michigan's musical theatre program (one of the top musical theatre programs in the world!) and went straight into playing Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID at Chicago Shakespeare theatre, and then directly on to playing the lead in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway for several years! I also recently returned from China, where I played Scarlett O'Hara in the musical version of GONE WITH THE WIND!

I've trained in all kinds of different techniques and currently have all different types of students and voices in my studio! I teach all levels and ages, from beginners to professionals, and a wide variety of different of styles (Broadway, opera, pop, ...

Rachel was awesome! I was nervous to start voice lessons and she was so patient. She took the time to teach me how the voice worked and how to fix problems she was hearing right off the bat. I am excited to continue learning with her and see how my voice improves.

Basically, meeting the student's need in the exploration of Music. The 3 important elements in any Musical example are rhythm, harmony and melody. These core elements are present irregardless of the style whether it be traditional, contemporary or Jazz.Whatever genre the student chooses ,these elements are fundamentally present. My aim is not to necessarily channel them to become professional musicians ie practicing scales and technical exercises daily but to introduce them to lets say ----what is a chord, what melodic line fits nicely over that chord, what's----the meter? Is it in 2 ,3 or 4.etc.I also encourage my students to attend concerts, performed by children their age.Music is first an aural tradition.Listening and seeing others performed excites the musical journey.

Gerry's the best! He was so great with both of our boys. His lessons fostered a love of music in them that will last them a lifetime. He kept the lessons fun while making sure that they were learning and growing as musicians.

I don’t know where to start raving about this magnificent person. Gerry Rollock has been a colleague of mine since 2003. Having worked with him for many years in a performance setting, Gerry is a consummate musician able to play in many styles. He worked with my organization Music Teachers Collaborative (2003-2020) as an in-home piano instructor. Gerry was always on time, traveling to each home in a safe manner arriving with a fresh perspective for each individual student. And they all liked him! His gentle teaching manner is perfect for all ages. Hire him for your son, daughter or yourself and you will be very happy that you did. The results will be evident in the way you will enjoy playing the piano.

Gerry is the best piano teacher! He’s been teaching my kids for years. He has so much patience and a good sense of humor and makes piano fun and lighthearted, I whole heartedly recommend Gerry for piano lessons!

I've been seeing Sandra for 7 years and I consistently look forward to my lesson every week. I have seen myself improve tremendously in my singing, acting, and sight-reading. Sandra provides an atmosphere of serious learning in which I have been taught how to control by voice, but she is also very personable and always up for a fun chat. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher!

Fantastic teacher. I learned so much more in a short time with Sandra than I learned with all the other voice trainers I have had through the years. Her method is rewarding.

"I worked with Howard on improving my sight-reading and found that his techniques worked exceptionally well. His approach focuses on learning to break apart every component of reading individually so that it can be practiced and strengthened in isolation. After spending time doing this and then putting everything back together as a whole, I was amazed at how much better I was at everything.

We also worked on some classical repertoire and he had a similar approach to breaking down complicated passages and learning to practice them with relaxation and confidence. A lot of what he taught me I went on to carry forward in my own teaching and I still go back to those philosophies in my own playing today.

Howard is an excellent piano teacher, musician, and mentor. I cannot recommend him highly enough."

Learning the Guitar Fretboard Notes [BONUS: Guitar Notes Chart]

Memorizing the guitar fretboard notes is something every beginning guitarist should work toward. Here, we'll share a quick exercise and guitar notes chart to help you get started. If the guitar had only one string, it would be quite easy to understand the mechanics of the guitar fretboard. It would be laid out just like a piano, where the further to the right you go, the higher the pitch and vice versa. It's not that easy when it comes to understanding a traditional six-string guitar. …
