The guitar can be an intimidating instrument for the beginner and an ever-expanding maze for the seasoned player. I want you to think about every time you practice as an adventure into a brave new world, navigating your way through chords, scales, and music theory concepts, your world of music will expand.

My teaching method is guaranteed to get you playing the guitar and having fun in no time! I’ve created a step by step program that is tailored to each individual student. Whether you're a beginner who doesn't know where to start or have been playing for years and finally want to take your playing to the next level, I accept students at any level.

I'll give you all the tools you need to succeed including jam tracks, chord & scale diagrams, and tablature. With my course you will learn the notes on the guitar, chords, scales, strumming and picking techniques, music theory, sight-reading, ear training, modes, arpeggios, sweep picking, tapping, finger-style techniques, hybrid ...

You can do so much with a guitar, and I can show you how to do just about all of it. I started lessons in 1995 and have played nearly everyday since. It quickly became my main instrument, so I am very confident I can help you reach your goals. Electric or acoustic, steel string or nylon, you will get quality lessons from a professional in the industry recognized for a fresh point of view.

I've been teaching guitar for the past 15 years. I help students find their unique musical voice through the study of songs and techniques they are interested in. For younger students I also use the Hal Leonard guitar method books to learn music reading. As students advance we switch to William Levitt's Modern method for guitar for jazz students, or Christopher Parkening's classical guitar method for fingerstyle players. Students should be able to play chords to their favorite tunes within 6 weeks. I teach to inspire passion for music. If you love music it makes it fun to practice. When you practice it makes music fun!

David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
