I am a French native speaker from the Loire region in France. I am a California Credential teacher K-12. I feel strongly about French conversation ,since this is what we do first as human beings. I am a compassionate teacher who loves to make it fun and with high expectations. Well as you can see it I am Carla and I speak French, Haitian Creole and English, I am also working on my Spanish. Anyway, French lessons will be unique with me because as someone that is young I have a lot of different methods on how to teach french. I will not only use some old methods like books but also music and videos because i believe it is one of the best way to teach a language and that's how I learned how to speak English. However, we will also have practice on how to pronounce the words and make sure we can get the best out of you. At the end of each session our goal is for you to be satisfied so you could remember something in French. I know it takes a lot to speak a language but with the determination, together we will achieve our goal.

I've been teaching since 2009 and spent seven years in Paris becoming fluent in French and doing a Master's at the Sorbonne. I tutor students who are taking French classes at all levels and am available for conversation practice at all levels. I can't wait to meet you!

I first started learning French when I was in high school and was amazed at how many similarities it shared with Spanish (which both descend from Latin) which helped me to pick up things a lot faster. I have since lived in the "French House" (at the Foreign Language Student Residence, part of on-campus housing at BYU) for two semesters where residents are required to speak their target language while in their respective apartments. I also took a third-year advanced grammar French class while at college while living in the French House. French is just an awesome language to learn!

I believe that a love of learning and a love of teaching go hand in hand. Teaching and tutoring allow me to help others develop that same love of learning that drives me in my studies. I find joy in showing students that intelligence is not fixed, helping them prove to themselves that they can improve their performance in any class with hard work.

The best tutors are people who love both the subjects they tutor and the feeling of helping someone succeed. I have been speaking French for 14 years, and I love the language and culture so much that I lived in Paris for a summer! Part of my tutoring process is helping others to appreciate the language and culture as well. With words of encouragement and a non-judgmental attitude, I help students tackle tough grammar, improve pronunciation, and learn to love speaking about language.
