Whether you have just started learning to play the cello for fun or you have been playing for a while and want to learn more, I am here to help you achieve your goals! I believe that the student's goals come first and tailor my lessons around each student's personalities, abilities, interests and goals. Learning an instrument is a fun, fulfilling and truly life changing adventure and I am excited to begin one with you!

As a professional cellist with 20 years of playing experience spanning many styles and genres and multiple orchestras and performing groups throughout the US, I am passionate about the spreading the joy of music to students of all ages and levels! Although I use several reputable resources including the Suzuki method and technique books from Rick Mooney (Position Pieces, Thumb Positions, Double Stops), I believe it is true that every student is different and that there is no such thing as a "one-size-fits-all " approach. I'm here to see YOU succeed and help YOU meet YOUR goals!

I have over 6 years of experience teaching private lessons in addition to teaching seminars on songwriting and music business at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and SUNY JCC.

I teach both online and in-person lessons at my studio in Nashville and offer 30 and 60 minute lessons.

I have played over 1,000 shows, both solo and as an auxiliary musician for other touring acts. I performed on over 30 albums and have composed for radio, television, and internet video series, including sharing the stage with members of the 10,000 Maniacs. I've been featured in The New York Times, on the CBS Evening News, and on NPR.

While each student is different, I do generally start everyone on either Suzuki or the Essential Elements books.

Students can look forward to getting acquainted with the cello- from posture and properly handling the instrument, note-reading, and playing their first songs with the bow.

It's the best instrument, right? No matter where you are as a cellist, I'm happy to meet you right there and help you achieve your goals. Together we can explore new repertoire, work on sound production and intonation, and develop an arsenal of different expressive nuances. You'll be able to pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity you desire; I am as happy to work with beginners in casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. Did you really think you were going to get away with skipping your scales and arpeggios, though? We're going to have to tackle some of those no matter what.

I LOVE teaching cello! I enjoy not only sharing my love of the music and the instrument, but also helping to expand my students' knowledge and hone their technique. My approach focuses on giving students the tools they need to become more independent musicians, so that the learning process will continue outside the lessons. This mostly consists of teaching a student how to practice efficiently and effectively, so they develop a good ear and become adept and solving their own musical problems or struggles. I will work with you to reach your cello playing goals and to enjoy yourself in the process!
