Fun, supportive, and thoughtful- lessons with Ian are centered around learning classic and modern songs from the very start to build excitement and momentum. For the new student we begin with Familiar Riffs & Melodies, tunes you know from the heart to help break the ice and build finger strength/calluses. Chords are introduced slowly yet smoothly into songs with lyrics to help memorize the progression. Intermediate levels learn how to effortlessly navigate the guitar's fretboard with good ergonomics, as well as exploring interesting chord shapes and groove based strumming patterns (think John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz). Theoretical knowledge is presented easily and without stress, with the option to explore further if interested. As a wise teacher once told me, "It's all just letters and numbers."
I am a singer/songwriter also for those interested in learning about composition and lyricism.

Dave is such a great teacher. He is very patient and understanding. I have learned so much with him in one month, then l have learned in four months with the other instructor l had. He makes learning fun, and I'm understanding what I'm doing now."

Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then Iâve learn in years with other teachers."

One of the most common questions I'm asked by students, whether they are total beginners, or seasoned veterans who have been playing for more than ten years, is: "How exactly should I practice guitar in order to get the most benefit from my time?" As my explanation, I always like to break down guitar knowledge in three basic categories. 1. Techni …
