Whether you're a first day student or a seasoned player, I've probably taught someone just like you before. I especially love teaching theory and fretboard logic, but I can help you learn whatever you're looking to take on.
With every student, I create a specific path for you that gives you what you're looking to learn (aka what got you excited about picking up the guitar in the first place) along with the essentials to help make your journey as smooth as possible. If there isn't quality tab readily available, I'm down to transcribe the tune for you and I guarantee you'll laugh and enjoy yourself (at no extra charge of course).
About Dave
I've been playing the guitar for 25 years now and teaching for nearly two decades. In 2006, I received his BA in Jazz performance from U-Mass Amherst and since then I've performed anywhere from local bars and cafes, in pits for musical theater, as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines and

Her knowledge and confidence in playing the guitar, has greatly improved. Dave gets all the credit for that.
He works well with her, is communicative, and is as flexible as he can be, even last minute.
I have, and will continue to recommend Dave to anyone interested in taking guitar lessons

For the past seven years, my performance career has primarily focused on Cuban Timba. In addition to my real-world experience with the genre, I have held multiple lectures and seminars on the style at universities across New York State as well as online. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to participate in this wonderful genre in such an extensive way, something few outsiders have been able to do. For that reason I am especially passionate about sharing the knowledge I've acquired with others.
I also specialize in jazz improvisation and other styles of "world music" including Afro-Peruvian, Venezuelan and even some styles from southeastern Europe.
As a teacher I emphasize technique, reading, rhythm and creating an organized practice routine. I'm also a strong advocate of transcription, especially of repertoire, which key when studying any style of music.
I also hope to inspire my students to become independent in following there own musical curiosity, regardless of what ...

Joe K."

I've taken bass and guitar lessons from Paul for eight years. He has a deep understanding of music theory, and is a professional musician, playing multiple instruments. His brilliance as a teacher stems from his ability to tailor his instruction to a specific student's abilities and desires. If you want to learn how play the guitar lead to your favorite rock/pop song, Paul will teach you, while showing you how the scales and forms can, be and are used in other popular songs. I've seen him teach kids from 6 to 60. He organizes blues jams for students, giving them a chance to play with professional musicians. Paul is extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgable. Paul supplies carefully designed study materials. I don't want to over do it, but Paul is a gifted teacher of musical knowledge."

I feel very comfortable with being able to be at a jam session and play along with the rest of the group. He taught me how to come up with licks using factorials, how to create a solo using modes and adding some flavor to the solos with techniques such as pop and slap or changing the tempo.
Thank you, Omar, for being such a great teacher! I feel much more confident in myself as a bass player because of the time you spent with me and all of the knowledge you departed onto me. I am very appreciative of you for that - thanks again!"
