I've been teaching Acoustic Guitar for 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to identify notes on the neck, start working with open position chords and using those chords to play simple songs. As time goes on you'll be able to play up the neck using movable position chords. (I love teaching this stage. Once the students learns how these chords work and how it saves them time learning, they are always very happy.) I specialize in fingerstyle playing but enjoy pickstyle as well. I typically use Hal Leonard series or Jerry Synder's Guitar Instructor book 1 and 2 to get started. They cover open position chords, moveable chords, pickstyle, fingerstyle, staff notation reading, bass runs, etc. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Beginning guitar is all about finding the motivation to get the student through the first stages. You'll have fun while learning good habits and getting your fingers to the point where they can play what you want.
The best guitar lessons are multi-faceted from the beginning. You start playing songs right away, all the while learning other things about music, good habits, simple songs, and helpful hints.
No experience is necessary to start picking up simple techniques that get you musical as soon as possible. Even at the very beginning, when we're learning simple scales and chords, every effort is made to help exercises not merely produce the tones required, but in a musical, emotionally-connecting way.
Music is the language of emotion, and you can learn that language.
We focus on:
Keeping the student interested and having fun while learning,
Working at the pace of the individual students,
Keeping the student's goals in mind,
Helping the student break ...

In music theory lessons, we will focus on theory that is relevant to the your musical interests, while simultaneously building a solid foundation in understanding universal music theory concepts.
We will relate these concepts to a variety of genres, whether that may be jazz, classical, pop, rock, or folk through analysis and musical examples.
We will also cover arrangement and composition techniques, harmonic and melodic analysis, ear training, and practical application.
I believe that the most important aspect of teaching music is creating a positive and individualized learning environment while simultaneously teaching the necessary technique and knowledge to play your instrument both successfully and confidently. Above all, our lessons will focus on reaching

It was a pleasure working with Troy. He is very passionate and cares about the student's progress. He really knows his stuff!"
I was 80 when I had my first voice lessons. I am now 82, over the mid-year hump and starting to be aware of 83 on the horizon. Since becoming a student with Rebecca I have sung strong roles in musical shows in New York and acted in 30 indie movies. Only yesterday I booked an appearance on a major television show.
I am not speaking of "Guest Appearances." I get paid real money. None of this would have been possible without Rebecca's skills as an observer, teacher, mentor and friend. She is meticulous in listening and observing. She has guided me to do things I never expected to be able to do with ease and comfort.
Most important of all - by knowing what I know from her guidance - I have zero stage fright. I know what I can do and enjoy doing it. I have seen her do similar things for preteens and adults."
Along with the equipment required for a child to play guitar, some lessons can be quite useful. Not only will you appreciate having some direction for what your child is playing, but he or she will benefit from having some qualified instruction as well. While there are a lot of factors that can affect guitar lesson prices, the major contributors are listed below. Be sure to consider these aspects when making a choice between two instructors.
