While taking piano lessons, my students will grow in areas including technique, music theory knowledge, and repertoire.

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.

I specialize in flamenco guitar, one of the richest styles of guitar playing. The techniques and fundamentals of flamenco are valuable resources for any guitarist, regardless of genre or style. While everything is taught through the filter of flamenco, students will gain a wealth of knowledge applicable to the guitar in general.

One can expect to start by developing a full technical routine aimed at developing stamina, strength, precision, and speed. All fundamental techniques will be introduced. Rhythm will be emphasized throughout. Harmony studies will be introduced where appropriate. Repertoire is given according to each student's capabilities and tastes, including resources for accompanying dance and singing.

Over the last decade of teaching guitar full time to hundreds of students, my passion remains the same - teaching my students how to play the guitar, not just the songs. My own journey as a heavy metal lead guitarist and songwriter who's transitioned to classical music, folk and the blues has prepared me to teach how to play the guitar in almost every single style of music.
