I began violin at the age of 12. I was immediately in love with it at 11 after hearing my best friend play for our school band. After traveling to Branson, MO, I returned home with my first violin just after turning 12. I played in my many youth orchestras including the Bloomington Youth Symphony, Terre Haute, Columbus and my highschool orchestra. I teach Suzuki style using a variety of method books. I teach ages 5 and up. Learn proper bow hold. Violin requires good intonation and solid technique both of which I ensure each of my students follow from the beginning.

I'm a violinist with 10 years of teaching experience. I am working with students of all ages/ levels. I believe that teacher should help a student to reveal and develop his/her personality through the music, so the lessons are adjusted for each student's needs individually. At the same time, the basis is a professional approach with detailed instructions.

I have been teaching violin for 3 years. Due to COVID, I switched to Zoom lessons this year, and it has been surprisingly awesome! Anything I teach in person translates to Zoom, and this makes learning the violin more accessible than ever.
I teach using the Suzuki Method and See Saw exercise books. I love to teach students of any age - adults and kids. For younger students, I recommend a parent be present to help with lesson setup and note-taking. You're welcome to sit in on the whole lesson or just the first and last 5 minutes or so.
Also, I love introducing students to alternative styles of violin. Want to learn how to play in a rock band? I can help! Want to play by ear and jam? We can do that too!
No matter your end goal, we'll work on posture and playing technique to help you achieve a beautiful sound and comfortable playing. We'll also work on basic music theory and note-reading.
I look forward to meeting you!

10/10 would lesson again -- especially for students that are daunted by the process of learning an instrument or who will benefit from a compassionate, trauma-informed educator who has experience working with neurodivergent students.

My daughter has only taken four lessons from Nikita, but she already sounds better, is more relaxed and can see a difference in herself. She is playing with more confidence than she's ever had.
Nikita is incredibly patient and is excellent with explaining what he wants and expects and is very encouraging. I only wish we had found him sooner!"

As much as every budding violinist would love to pick up their instrument and begin playing beautiful music, the work required to get there is much more mundane – every breathtaking performance requires strategic and focused warm up exercises beforehand. These routines help you develop and maintain your basic violin skills as well as gear up for more advanced techniques, too. For beginners, it may be difficult to know even where to start; after all, everything seems to need work. However, us …
