Piano Lessons in Shelbyville. Amazing Teachers.

I teach students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical piano skills. I typically use Bastien books, and also incorporate sheet music. My lessons are challenging, and fun!

Number one is we always have fun, though we do a lot of hard work too! Lessons are split between technical/theoretical music study, and live performance practice. Emphasis is on gaining skills in coordination and dexterity, understanding the theory behind compositions, and finding individual expression with each piece. Technique exercises follow the Dozen A Day series; Lessons, Sight-Reading, and Theory from Faber & Faber; skills are applied to a performance song of the students' choosing. Students generally select a song at their level in either Classical, Jazz or Contemporary style. All students are required to practice at least 5 mins a day, every day. Each performance piece is later performed live in concert.

I love playing piano. My students begin loving it too. We both discover a beautiful amazing music world in all its facets. I help my students with that music to become an essential vital part of their soul interests and needs.
My teaching method includes: Individual approach, thorough evaluating of the students' natural music gifts and their desires and expectations from lesson. Patience, encouragement, wit, hope, and confidence.

My goal as Piano teacher is to encourage, inspire, and challenge each one of my students. I bring my passion and love for the instrument into every lesson. I enjoy teaching many different styles ranging from jazz, classical, and pop. I also received my Bachelors Degree in Music Composition from Cal State Northridge.
Learning to play music has been my biggest blessing in life, and my goal is to share this wonderful world with my students.

I have five years of teaching music to ages ranging from five to fifty and over twenty years being a musician. My teaching method is specialized to meet the demand and attention needed to provide each individual student with the necessary tools to master their craft. With my lessons, students will learn sight reading, ear training, essential elements of music theory and other handy tools that equip the student for greatness.
