Whether you're tackling singer-songwriting, accompaniment, pop/rock, jazz/funk/r&b, or even classical exercises, I can help you. I've studied piano/voice/guitar long enough to know what each kind of instrumentalist/vocalist needs. I'm well versed in a overview of all genres and styles, as well as specialized areas of study. As a writer, I'm also very familiar with coaching instrumentalists geared towards composition and arranging. If you're looking to improve your skills, I can help!

About Jake
I want to teach the material that excites students. After a handful of really crummy experiences with teachers who wanted me to learn a specific way, I stumbled across a music school in Philadelphia and a college in Boston that really got the principle of teaching what students are drawn to. Bruce Springsteen wrote, "we learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school." Although I don't agree with that on all occasions, there is something so special about hearing something that makes you tick and going, "ok let me listen to that again, and now let me figure out HOW I can do that myself." As a teacher, I'm flexible, focused, and also love to have fun with music. It's something that makes us excited and alive; there's no use in pursuing something you love if you don't equally enjoy the process of getting great at
it. So let's find what makes YOU excited about music, and let's figure out out to make you great at it.

Just imagine, seeing your child light up to the joy of music during music lessons, just begging to go back to their piano lesson. Watch and listen as he fills your home with music at the most recent family Christmas party.

Then time passes and they become little performers on the big stage in front of a big audience of their friends, parents, and fellow students. Enjoy the compliments you as the parent receive for your child's hard work and beautiful playing!

Eventually you begin to see him developing positive character traits like valuing hard work, all while making their favorite pop, classical, and blues tunes! You can't remember when you stopped having to beg your child to do their homework and get off of the iPad!

All these vivid futures are possible at my piano studio because of my core value that studying music should be an enjoyable experience. I offer a positive learning environment with piano games and tend the growing seed of music education through encouragement

Eric tutored me throughout the 2016-2017 school year in AP Chemistry. Throughout the year I played competitive volleyball and Eric was always very flexible with scheduling and making sure he could fit me in- even if it was last minute.

I could tell that Eric generally cared about how well I understood each piece of material. No matter how long it took for me to understand he never gave up on me; if one explanation didn't make sense to me, then he would reinterpret it another way. Even during times throughout the school year when I was just so over chemistry, he pushed me and he kept me on track.

The impact that Eric had on me was incredible and I highly recommend his services. Without Eric's help, I know that I would not have been able to receive an A in this class or be able to manage all of my activities.

I learned more about the subject of chemistry then I ever wanted too.... AND I ended up passing the AP exam! Thank YOU Eric!

I’ve really enjoyed having Scott as my piano instructor! He does a great job of pointing out opportunities for improvement in your playing as well as how you can get there. He clearly has an in-depth knowledge of music theory, which was helpful in certain applications and also made the process of learning piano more interesting. Taking lessons can make you a little nervous with someone sitting right there watching you play something you’ve been trying to learn, but Scott was very patient with my performance anxiety and it didn’t take long before I felt comfortable playing in front of him. I found him to be a very good teacher and he’s also flexible and understanding with scheduling conflicts!

About Tammy
Hi, I’m Tammy!
I’m good at forming strong personal connections, and my desire is for students to enjoy and excel at playing the piano. I've been teaching private lessons out of my home and at a local music shop, and have loved helping my students learn to play and read music, prepare for recitals, and prepare for solos and accompaniment at their schools and churches. I’m patient, encouraging, and like to see students really understand music and grow in their ability to play. My lessons are challenging, but fun. I like students to choose some of their own music and participate in choosing their direction and pace. I find that playing songs they know and like helps to facilitate at home practice and faster learning, as students enjoy their practice time! I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I have 13 years of experie
nce taking piano lessons. During that time I played with my church’s music team, accompanied a choir, and became an experienced soloist and accompanist. I have experience accompanying singers, choirs, violinists, and bands. I additionally competed in music competitions and took home the highest award for piano in the state of Wisconsin, and accompanied several singers who also received highest awards. I was accepted into the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Music, but after my first year chose to shift my focus to the sciences, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by attending Northwestern Health Sciences University where I received a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After a successful career in chiropractic, I sold my practice to become a homemaker and tutor, and am excited to once again return to my first love, music.
