About Patricia
I graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in music education, K-12. Following I spent a year teaching piano and voice in England and then moved back to Colorado and opened a home studio. I have had the privilege to raise my daughter while working in the home as a music teacher. We later moved to Kentucky where I again started a home studio. I now have over 30 years of teaching experience, specializing in piano and voice lessons for beginners to advanced for students of all ages. I also have taught basic guitar.

My teaching style is very "laid back". I am a teacher who desires her students to learn and enjoy piano. The curriculum will be chosen individually for each student and if students are transferring from another teacher, they can use their current curriculum. Beginning students will learn the basics of piano an
d theory; intermediate students will advance their knowledge of playing and theory.

Students will be invited to participate in a variety of incentive programs throughout the year. We also preform 2-3 times a year at the yearly Formal Recital, Nursing home program, and our Christmas student program.

Hope to meet you soon. I would love to introduce you to the wonderful world of music!

About Ilona
I am experienced (3 years) in home school tutoring. I mostly work with Florida Virtual School students. I overlook their tests and assignments, and help them with preparations for Discussion Based Assessmemts (DBA). I also help parents with required annual evaluations and how to sign up with home education department.
For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make them interested in learning and have fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I show how to use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as learning opportunities.

I have Masters in Education (2018) with specialization in English, Curricul
um and Education; and Masters in Arts (2012) in Teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as a degree in violin performance from Chicago.
I studied piano in Chicago for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.
I have taught music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am fan of the Essential Elements method and I Can Read Music book for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Fundamentals of Piano Theory (9 levels) combined with Master Theory (6 levels) books.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach Piano competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include technique and reading music. I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
Music theory: I use Master Theory and Fundamentals of Piano Theory books for younger ages, Alfred's music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements for strings I also use String Tunes and I Can Read Music to add more fun to the lessons as well as support reading music during the lesson. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The students need to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books, flashcards & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I always bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

*** Specialties ***
I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests.
Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues

About Fernando
I am a professional vocalist who regularly performs with orchestras, rock bands, jazz bands and as a singer/songwriter. I teach beginners to professional touring artists and can break down the seemingly complex vocal techniques in simple to understand concepts and exercises. My focus areas are breath, placement and freedom from tension in order to increase your efficiency, stamina and flexibility between registers and musicality. (See my online tutorials for a quick idea of what it might be like to work with me)

I have a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan and have worked professionally from Opera to Pop. I started my professional music career at the age of 10, traveling the world with the American Boychoir School in Princeton, NJ. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I worked as an instructor and vocal
coach for the Grammy Award Winning Pacific Boychoir. I also sang professionally for ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Clerestory, American Bach Soloists and San Francisco Pocket Opera.

I am currently a vocal instructor for Sweetwater Music Academy, music director for the Jesters (a theatre ensemble for people with developmental disabilities) and I sing for hospital patients as a Parkview Healing Artist. I have taught grade levels K-8 in private schools so I am accustomed to all age levels.

As a songwriter I have composed and performed music for MTV, VHI, E! and the Oxygen Network, and have acted on commercials for Southern Comfort, Old Spice, & Anthem Blue Cross.

I am also the songwriter and front man for the original regional RootsRock band, Fernando T. & The Wickersham Bros and have established myself as a teaching artist for young audiences through the Carnegie Hall Link Up Concert Series.

I look forward any questions you may have and hope to help you or your child find creative fulfillment from the most unique instrument in the world- your voice!

[PLEASE NOTE: I will be teaching exclusively online from June-December 2017 period and am happy to squeeze in as many in in location lessons you would like before then]

About Mike
Learning to play an instrument is a mixture of a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work. My strength is finding what will inspire my students to WANT to put in those difficult hours of practice, and then showing them how to apply what they have learned in a creative way, so that they experience the fun that music is supposed to be.

I help my students set - and reach - achievable goals. Learning this skill teaches them self esteem and also helps them discover their own learning style - a valuable tool, even if they do not pursue a career in music! I am gentle, but honest when a student arrives for a lesson unprepared, and am equally honest and enthusiastic when they demonstrate that they have put forth the effort to succeed.

I am not accepting many students, so that I can keep my schedule very performance heavy. This makes me a bet
ter teacher, and means that I only retain students who really want to progress.

I have been a drummer/percussionist in the Indianapolis music scene for nearly forty years. I regularly perform with the top players in many different genres and have played and recorded in a wide variety of venues and musical situations. In addition to playing my first instrument: the drum set. I also perform on various instruments, including: steel pan, vibraphone, and congas. I have extensive experience as a teacher beginning 30 years ago teaching at IRC music and Carmel Music Center.

My music education followed the classic route of mentoring under a local expert while working professionally. I studied for 16 years with Charles Mastropaolo (drummer for the Ed Sullivan show, and local jazz great) and was trained by him in improvisation, rudimental drumming, score reading/interpretation, Latin drumming, vibraphone, and performing all styles on the drum set. I have also been a member of the vibraphone workshop online teaching community for nine years. As a member, I have been able to further my education on all mallet instruments by online lessons with some of the top vibraphone players in the world.
I look forward to working with you!

Mike was really the best instructor I could have asked for. Knowledgeable, patient, and best of all, chill when he needed to be. I was just picking up the drums for a high school band I was in at the time, and he was more than willing to help me learn whatever dumb song me or my band had decided sounded cool at the time. At the same time, he showed me a lot of really excellent practice techniques, directed me to some solid literature for different rhythms to work on, and would sit with me through a whole hour of my relentless mistakes like it was nothing. More than a good instructor, he's a really cool guy! He never missed a beat!

As a professional musician who plays gigs with Mike often .... he is a great, well-rounded percussionist/drummer .... let alone a well respected person to deal with, and will always do the job at hand right. Very personable .... easy to work with. Very knowledgeable on his instruments and music. Would highly recommend him as a teacher.

Hi there,

I'm Bradley. I've been in love with electronic music and sounds since I was a young lad. Since then, I've spent most of my time learning every in and out of creating, producing, mixing, and synthesizing electronic music. Ableton live has been my weapon of choice since the beginning and I have developed my own way to move around the program as quickly and efficiently as possible. Being an analytical person I have gone deep into Ableton to learn even the most minor details.

I know all the stock Ableton plug ins so if you'd like to keep it more basic... I got you. I also know a plethora of 3rd party plug ins, so if you want to explore...I got you.

I've been tutoring for about 3 years now. I can teach Ableton Live to you fast or slow, detailed or vague.

I even was working with the creators of Ableton Live a few years
back when they asked to join one of my personal writing sessions. They wanted to see how I used the program and learn from me for any future updates.

Keep in mind I produce many genres of music such as EDM, Pop and Rap ect.

I'd love to learn more about you and your goals. Talk soon!

I have been playing piano and singing since I was 5. I have performed with many ensembles for both voice and piano including, choir, jazz ensembles, musicals, operas, and solo recitals. I received my degree in Music Performance from Duquesne University.

Classical music is my passion. When it comes to both voice and piano it is extremely important to have a thorough understanding of musicianship and technique, both of which are things I prioritize in lessons. It really helps to see how things all come to together and learning the basics well will help any transition into new pieces, new genres, or even a new instrument.
