I am passionate about my students learning how to sing in healthy, sustainable ways so that they can be life-long singers. I am also passionate about music literacy. Regardless of what style of music you study, basic music reading skills are very important. I love teaching all ages and for my young singers, I use the Full Voice Workbook Series: a wonderful set of singing books that engage young singers in kinesthetic, auditory, and written exercises for music. Voice lessons are catered to your specific voice needs and the style of music you wish to study.

I am a classically trained voice teacher with knowledge in vocal pedagogy. I believe that science-based vocal production leads to healthier, life-long voice users. I made my debut as "Fia" in the world premiere of Jake Landau's opera, "Pieta" in 2021 and I have performed in several opera choruses. These include: Eugene Onegin, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, and Tosca.

I have been coached my major symphony concertmasters for my own auditions & have strong knowledge of the orchestra audition excerpts. In piano my coach was William Browning who taught me how to win competitions as well as judge them. I have been a competition judge for over 20 years, so I know what juries want in a winner. Of course, the credit goes to the student who puts all the work in. My job is to prepare you to succeed, and play your absolute best. Your tuition includes participation in my monthlyu master class Saturday mornings. If you are online, you may Skype in and perform or observe.

My first lesson was a real happy one, I was nervous and stressed about starting. Ms. Stephanie was very pleasant, explained things so I could comprehend it., she was strong in confidence yet happy in mild in teaching style. I’m very hopeful I will learn a lot from this brilliant teacher.

I am an adult beginner violinist. When I first met Stephanie, I had barely touched a violin, but I was determined to learn how to play it. With her help and patience, I am progressing through the Suzuki method as well as doing ear training and music theory. Stephanie is an excellent musician as well as instructor! Her method of teaching keeps the students engaged, encouraged and excited about learning music from all sides of it.

I strongly recommend Ms. Quinn. She is amazing. I love a teacher who is passionate about what she does and Ms. Quinn has motivated me to love the violin and work harder to improve. She is slightly strict but very patience and kind, always pushing you to work hard and do your best. I learned to play violin a few years ago as a beginner and stopped playing for a few years. I was nervous to begin online violin lessons considering that I learn better face to face. However, Ms. Quinn has done an amazing job at teaching me, I have been taking lessons with her for a year now and have learned so much I didn’t know before which has also grown my love for violin.

Ukulele:
Sometimes abbreviated to uke, it is a member of the lute family of instruments; it generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings. Some strings may be paired in courses, giving the instrument a total of six or eight strings. The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, mainly from Madeira and the Azores. The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. If you just want to play songs I'm happy to teach you the songs you love. I can also teach you to become a musician by teaching from the beginning with the very basics of finger placement, reading, notes, rhythms, songs, scales, theory and improvisation....or, we can do both!

About Karen

Hi! My name is Karen D. I’ve had the pleasure of performing, singing, writing, and recording since I was seven years old. Besides being an Honor Graduate of Berklee School of Music, I have been a lifelong student of the international world-renowned instructors Dante Pavone and Charlie Banacos.

Karen obviously loves the piano & guitar. She’s probably an excellent teacher for those instruments. Why do I say that? That’s what she talked about! She spent half my lesson trying to convince me to learn one of those instruments. Could work on listening skills! Not even sure if she owns a set of bongos herself. Didn’t start teaching me anything until last 10 min & then I had to leave early anyway. So 50 min out of 60 and about 5 I actually learned a few things I could have been practicing for at least 30 min of class. Use her if you want to learn something else other than bongos.

Ms. Karen did a pretty good job, she had ideas for the lesson and provided ideas for the next lesson. She went out of her way to help me with this new idea---------"music" and "reading music." If there was any short fall in the lesson it was on my side and my preparation failings. I have no problem recommending Ms. Karen to others. Regards, JC

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Hello! I am a violinist with over 20 years of performing experience and ten years of teaching experience. I have had the opportunity over the years to study with many brilliant teachers who have passed on their tools and philosophies to me. I have also in turn taught many students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, from beginners to self-taught to those preparing for collegiate auditions. I work with 20+ students each week, both online and in-person. I offer private lessons for beginners through advanced violin, and beginner ukulele.

My goal in teaching is to enable students to become critical thinkers and gain confidence in their playing. As often as possible, I involve the student in music-making decisions. Playing music is a creative endeavor. It's important that the process of learning music is enjoyable and stimulates the mind.

At the same time, I am passionate about providing training in the fundamentals of technique so that students can experience true ease of ...

I am enjoying taking violin lessons with Rebecca! She knows so much about the violin and always takes time to answer all of the questions I have. Often she will play different pieces with me and it has helped me to know the timing and how the song or scale should sound. She is very kind and easy to talk to but she also knows how to show the areas that need to be worked on. She plays the violin beautifully and I am learning a lot from her.

Ms. Panayiotou's empathy for her students and her love of her craft are evident in her teaching style. Her dedication and skill, not only to music, but to tailoring lessons to the individuality of each of her students sets her apart from other teachers. She's not a task master that uses rigid method, but teaches skills through level-appropriate music that engages her students on an individual basis.

5 Important Tips for Soprano Singers to Keep in Mind

Are you a soprano? Keep your voice in great shape with these tips from Saint Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L... Being born a soprano comes with both its perks and its challenges. On the one hand, we sopranos have a lot of the solos in choruses and choirs, and most of the highly dramatic arias and ballads. On the other hand, we tend to overwork and abuse our voice more often and get diagnosed with a lot more pathologies of the voice. Every voice type is special, and soprano singers ha …
