My daughter and I were very satisfied with the voice lessons and attention provided by Tasha. She took personal interest in my daughter’s desire to improve her singing, and Tasha went above-and-beyond in coordinating a Christmas caroling opportunity for my daughter . I would highly recommend Tasha for any students interested in improving their singing skill; we were very happy with her teaching!!

About Rebeca
I have to be honest: teaching was the last thing I wanted. But I had the opportunity of working as an aid at a Montessori School and learned that I loved dealing with little kids. A few months later, an opportunity of becoming an Early Childhood Music Teacher showed up, and I found that I could join my two passions: music and children. I started teaching violin and piano a little after that and fell in love with the one-on-one approach to this whole thing!
With my Bachelor in Music Education, I learned to always approach teaching based on the music itself, but I also bring out the importance of the music theory so the student understands what they're doing. Little compositions and music appreciation are also a part of it all.

About Anabelle C.

Singing is therapeutic and fulfilling. Whatever your desires with pursuing vocal lessons, we can work to improve that to your ultimate satisfaction.

About Anabelle
When did you begin playing [instrument], and why?:

I've been singing since I was about 8. I began to play piano when I was a teenager, because many of my classmates were very skilled at the piano, and I became inspired to be like them.

What are your personal goals as a musician?:

I love opera, and my goal is to compose my own. I plan on working closely with the librettist, since I'm a poet as well.

Do you have a memory of a time when a musical concept or technique really clicked? Something you'll remember forever?:

I never knew what perfect pitch was until I was much older. I also didn't realize I had perfect pitch until a professor at an audition made me aware of my ability. Since then, it's become a wonderful tool.

What is your favorite piece of advice from one of your past (or current) teachers?:

Being compassion
ate with a student will allow them to fearlessly open up to their potentials.

What was your most challenging moment learning an instrument?:

In the winter months, my body feels tight and cold, and sometimes this causes tension during playing or singing. That's why to me it's important to work in a warm environment, do proper daily stretching, and have a healthy lifestyle (good diet, exercise, proper sleep).

What is your biggest musical achievement?:

Composing a fugue.

Favorite thing about teaching?:

I love sharing my passion for music with other human beings.

What is a piece of advice you would like to share with anyone learning music?:

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Music is meant to be fun, enjoy it!

Personal music projects: i.e. bands, groups, shows, recording, etc. (if any):

In 2015, I composed the music for my sister's walk down the aisle (wedding piece). Additional compositions underway, member of American Composer's Forum, member of Contemplum (composition club at Temple), participant in the Oticons Film Score Contest.

BIO:

About Anabelle...

Anabelle has been involved with sounds and music from an early age. Her greatest forte is her hearing. When she was young, people thought she might become a voice actor, because her skill at replicating voices was quite apparent. Still, she loved to sing and had been regularly involved in choirs. She dabbled in violin in the fifth grade, but she didn't feel a "click." Without despairing, she tried her luck with piano and felt instantly in sync. She knew this was the right instrument for her. During her piano studies, she continued to work on her voice. In addition, she studied the workings of a sound board, and was head sound chief at her high school. At the college level, she began to pursue composition, while still continuing with piano and vocal studies. She holds an A.A. with a music focus (piano performance), a B.M. in music theory, and a M.M in music education from Boston University. She has been teaching music since 2006 and has worked with a wide range of ages and various group sizes. Her joy is working with people in a field that she is passionate about. Her interests include music (jazz, classical, opera, new age), ballet, composition, yoga, meditation, going to the gym, hiking and camping, scuba-diving, sailing,Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, cooking and baking, film-editing, sound engineering, poetry, reading good books, building websites, and watching documentaries.

Krysti has been a great instructor for me, an older, inexperienced student. She and I share a technical background. I find her skill and willingness to 'debug' my problems week after week to be helpful, easy to understand, and on target.

I'm still at the newb stage with clarinet, an amazingly tricky instrument. But it's my favorite sound, and I'm stickin' with it as long as Krystina can stand me.

Hello, I have a college degree in Music with focus on Singing and Live Performances. In my lessons i Will access your level of singing and build a solid training plan to start pitching the areas that needs correction and/or strengthening, checking for bad habits on breathing and vowel or tong placement. I will then teach and practice through various vocal exercises how to do all the different voicings, sing through "the break" and increasing vocal range and then Apply it to your favorite songs. I teach a contemporary method of vowel placement, not Classical, witch is a different voice!

About Socrates
Hello, My name is Socrates, I'm originally from Brazil and I came to Los Angeles to study and pursue my dreams in Music. I went through a lot to get where I am now and I got my College Degree from Musicians Institute in the Vocal Program. I May look young but I have a lot of experience and, although I love teaching, I am also a performer and continue to do so as much as I can.
Not only will I be able to teach a variety of vocal techniques, but I will also help with the performing side of singing, where you can express yourself truthfully.

I am a professional opera singer and principal soprano at the Metropolitan Opera. I have dedicated my entire life to music and singing, and I truly understand all the twists and turns seeking a professional life as a classical singer involves. I am, at the same time, a firm believer than anyone can be taught how to sing if they are not tone deaf (and only less than 5 percent of our population is). Singing is physiologically proven to improve your health and well being, and I believe a lot of what is involved in singing has to do with the student's mindset and confidence. I am an extremely passionate, patient, and compassionate person, and I don't teach to make a living, I teach because I truly love learning from my students and imparting what I've learned with others. I love to share the gift of music!

About Leela
I am a principal artist at the Metropolitan Opera and have sung all over Germany, including the Bavarian State Opera, as a professional soprano. I graduated with my Masters and Professional Studies certificate from the Manhattan School of Music, and my BA from University of California- Los Angeles in classical voice.

I believe in healthy singing that starts with proper breath control and connection to the body. I also believe that technique should not be completely separate from musicality and the emotional connection to the music. I provide my students with the tools to warm up the voice in a way that allows the freedom of the voice to come out, while then using that freedom to creatively express whatever he/she wants with his/her voice. Students end up feeling a sense of release when singing in a way that I find healthy and not pushed
. I get so much joy out of the joy that my students feel when singing.

I also believe that singing has a much deeper psychological aspect to it, more so than other instruments, because the instrument is within you. As a teacher, I am extremely patient, compassionate, good-humored and like to really get to know my students because I think it helps bring out their expression and their voice.

Looking forward to hearing your voice in a lesson!
