Hello! I started my harp teaching life as a research doctor and therapist, using harp vibrations with patients for 9 years in Mayo Clinic hospitals. After recording Harp Of Hope as a harp therapy treatment for helping with anxiety and other symptoms, I began to meet many people who wanted to learn harp for healing their own symptoms. So I began to teach harp, specializing in adult beginners.

I am a Conservatory-trained harpist and pianist, so I emphasize good technique, but I want my students to enjoy life. So I try to fill lesson times with peace, laughter, and joy in the music. That's what it's all about! I live on a beautiful lake in Northern Kentucky, and I lead harp retreats there. I also rent harps to students. Most of my students are adults who have always wanted to play the harp... so, if that's you, too, I look forward to meeting you!

I've been teaching the harp since I graduated from Juilliard and my students have accomplished such amazing things with their harp playing! In the first lesson you'll get to create that gorgeous sound that is unique to the harp and you'll learn a song or two! I have harps available for you to rent to get started. We can work out a contact-less exchange. You will need a harp to practice on. If you take in-person lessons, you won't need to bring the harp for lessons. Dr. S. believes that great playing is derived from great technique. Technique is an essential part of becoming a successful musician. Dr. S. helps her students perfect their technical abilities allowing them to explore vast musical repertoire.

Musicality is what brings music to life. Every musician has their own unique ideas that are expressed through their playing. Dr. S. helps her students develop their natural creative instincts and convey their ideas through their music.

Learning how to play music is fun and rewarding, however it also requires a great deal of self discipline. Practicing your instrument consistently is necessary to become a successful musician. Music is a fun way to learn the value of hard work and self discipline for students of all ages.

As a harp teacher, all of my
students play scales, arpeggios, and technical exercises in
their lessons. I believe having a strong technical base is the foundation for
every part of playing and you can't learn without it. I will set the repertoire
for students according to their technical progress and although I may
take into consideration a student's desires to learn a certain piece, there has
to be time and they have to be ready for it. I have both short term and long
term goals for each student that involve theory, technical ability, and
repertoire both orchestral and solo. Adult students still have to learn
technique, it makes things much more fun and easy six months later, I promise! Beginning students will learn how to read notes, understand basic theory, and technique in a short amount of time, so don't be scared if you have never had a music lesson before.

I am a very experienced harpist, holding over 20 years of experience. I have performed in over 4,000 concerts and have had the privilege of performing as the Principal Harpist at St. Petersburg Opera Theatre and Mariinsky Theatre in Russia. I also hold a Master’s degree in Harp from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia.
