Tyler is a wonder and talented musician who teaches. I have found the norm is that talented musicians play and the rest teach. Tyler does both wonderfully! He's a creative and encouraging teacher who know how to take complex material and explain it in a way anyone can understand! I highly recommend him to whoever is interested in learning a musical Instrument!

I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8. In college I was a piano major, and have since been teaching (5+ years).

About Jane

I am a graduate of Lawrence University with a BA in Music (Piano) and German. I've played piano for more than 20 years, but in college performed more with voice. In college as a BA candidate I was able to take a variety of lessons, including classical piano (my major), jazz piano, classical voice,

Jane is VERY patient and super fun! Our daughter is a tough cookie, but she absolutely adores Miss Jane and has done her best piano work since starting with her. I highly recommend her! And the ability for lessons to be in the home is just beyond convenient.
Lily T.
We had our first lesson with Jane last night. Lily is a tough cookie, but Jane handled her REALLY well. Also LOVE having the lesson in our home. With our busy schedules, it's nice being able to keep my daughter in lessons but not have to trek her to a school.

We're looking forward to a long relationship with Jane (hopefully)!

Lessons for beginners will involve building foundational piano skills involving reading, ear training, and good piano technique. I have used a variety of piano training methods in the past, and am also familiar with creating lesson plans outside of a method book, for students who would like to learn through a non-traditional method. Beyond building a musical foundation, we will expand on that by developing our listening skills and analyzing music. Piano lessons are also valuable for vocalists who want to learn how to accompany themselves, and for other instrumentalists who would like to develop their musical knowledge.

About Mariel

Mariel Greenwood is a vocalist and music instructor based in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. Mariel studied music at The McDonald College in Sydney, Australia, and then continued her studies with a degree in Vocal Performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.

Mariel has completely changed my singing for the better. I had previously had a singing teacher who was uninterested, uninspiring, and unmotivational. With Mariel - I always look forward to our lessons! She has developed my tone, allowed me to take control of my breathing, completely boost my confidence, and has made me fall in love with singing again! She has also encouraged me with my songwriting, helping me to find a sound that is natural to me. I have also developed a greater understanding of music theory which has helped me with reading sheet music as well as writing music.

I love teaching students how to play the piano. I enjoy helping them achieve their specific goals. I am all about increasing my students' musicality to the fullest potential. I can help them learn the skill of sight-reading (Imagine knowing how to immediately play a piece of music that you have never seen before!) I can also teach them how to play by ear/improvise
(Wouldn't it be nice to be able to successfully play a song from your brain on your first try?) I'd love to teach you how to play.

I would like to start out saying I’m a 66 year old beginner acoustic guitar player. Kevin was very good in assuring me that the guitar isn’t that difficult to learn and proved it in my first lesson. He makes you feel at ease and throughly explains the lesson.

She is wonderful. My daughter has really enjoyed her voice lessons with Beth.

Finding Beth has been the highlight of our time during Covid-19. We were preparing to start in person piano lessons when Covid-19 started and quarantine stopped that plan. After searching the web high and low I stumbled across TakeLessons and particularly found Beth. She has been teaching my daughter voice and piano lessons for 6 weeks now and I cannot speak highly enough of her!! My daughter has not only learned so much from her about piano technique as well as how to use her voice as a beautiful instrument, but Beth is also such a positive light and gives my daughter tons of self confidence. Her positive attitude and upbeat teaching style are electric. I would recommend Beth to anyone, old or young, beginner or experienced. Her teaching methods work so well even through FaceTime and many states away. My daughter has gone from beginner to reading music and playing the piano beautifully with grace and self confidence!! Thank you Beth!!!
