Zaky is great with my son who has a history of brain injury which causes him to have short term memory problems. In just a few weeks he has much more confidence in himself and is even a slight bit ahead in band class. He is now able to help some of the other students which he loves. There are very few things that at school that don't overwhelm him, and Zaky has helped him find success in music.

Kyle is a great teacher. My grandson Franklin has trouble with paying attention, but Kyle was great when it comes to keeping him focused and interested. He has been with Kyle for close to a year now, and even though he is only 8 years old, he has learned a lot! I would highly recommend taking lessons with Kyle. He makes both grandparents and students happy and, my grandson looks forward to lessons every week with him.

Joey is the best kind of teacher--he challenges my son and makes it fun for him. He pushes my son outside of his comfort zone, but in a good way. My son's technique and tone have improved so much. And best of all, he's really enjoying Joey as his teacher!
Suzie
Joey has been teaching piano to my 9 year old son for almost a year now. We are very happy with the relationship our son and Joey have, and with our son’s progress. My husband and I both studied music in college, and we’ve both been music teachers at various points in our careers. We know a solid teacher when we see one. Joey somehow manages to set high expectations for our son while remaining laid back and fun. He lets our son explore different types of music as our son’s interest changes. We find that flexibility refreshing and necessary to keep young kids interested. Out of all his activities, our son loves piano the most, and a lot of that has to do with the quality of teaching he receives from Joey. Speaking of flexibility, Joey has adapted his teaching seamlessly to teaching via zoom (his lessons were previously taught in our home), and even put together a lovely virtual recital for all the kids in his studio during the covid-19 social distancing situation. We heard about Joey from friends, and continue to recommend him to others.
Andrea
Joey is knowledgable and talented in his craft. My energetic five year old son looks forward to his lessons each week. Joey is an experienced teacher, his lesson structure and management skills keep my son on task and learning. He is patient and flexible. We highly recommend Joey as a music teacher. These lessons are an investment in our child’s future and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have found Joey.

"Gifted teacher with amazing skill and knowledge

Our experience with Nick was outstanding. Nick gave our son multiple years of guitar lessons, as well as music theory and composition instruction. This was while our student was in a charter high school for music, and playing for hours a day. Yet, Nick's lessons were the ones he looked forward to the most. Nick treated him not only like a valued student but also as a capable musician. Guitar was not our son's first instrument, yet Nick never forgot that he needed to learn some things as a beginner and others by building on skills of an already playing musician. The individualization was the best we have seen in any music teacher. Nick was able to take him far very quickly too. And, they had a great time. The in-person lessons and Skype lessons were at an equally high level. Each lesson was personalized to our student's needs at that moment in time. Nick respected his needs in school to be working on a specific composition or learning a specific skill or even the need to be flexible with traveling. Our student has gone on to play his own music, as well as covers, at large and small venues in multiple states. He still uses the warm-ups Nick gave him to keep his speed up. Thanks Nick!"

"Gregg was my musical instructor during the early 1980ties. What I learned in a few lessons with him was more that I could have expected. I was primarily focused on percussion, of which his vast knowledge was highly dynamic. I learned about poly-rhythms, Indian ti-hies, and complex time signatures. He had available much reference material that he provided me. And over the years his musical insights have not only supplemented my inquiries, but made me a better musician and person. I hope you have a chance to study with Gregg, as you will be introduced to a new and better way of musicianship!"

"I have been taking lessons with Jimmy for 3 years and could not ask for a better teacher. He makes my interest grow and has a wealth of knowledge and the patience to share it. He challenges me regularly. I only wish I had found him sooner as previous instructors never had the flexibility or patience that Jimmy has.
Learning in such a relaxed environment has worked very well for me. My son has since started lessons with Jimmy as well and it has become a great experience for both of us."

I'm taking music theory and composition lessons from Daniel to supplement what I already know from composing by ear. Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …
