Brian was very patient with my son. He made sure he was aware of his instructions. He even guided him back to the correct path when he was unsure of the information. Great teacher!

Tremendously knowledgeable and able to teach complex things very simply. Everything he taught me was so much more profound and important to understanding music that I could have imagined. Highly recommend him as a mentor if one is at all interested in music.

Brian is wonderful! He is extremely helpful and patient.
Solid understanding of Word and its uses. Experience using Word in various writing assignments, technical writing reports, and artwork.
I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 10 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!
Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attribute
d to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.
I am an experienced ESL, Writing, Speech, Literacy, Accent Modification coach and teacher. I have been doing this for the past 10+ years. I offer my students a structured and comprehensive curriculum that will change your English, speech, and grammar forever.
I have a ton of resources, know which textbooks to use for the best results and will provide my students with a variety of training videos that will help reinforce learned concepts outside of the class. I assess my students throughout their learning process.
I am very comfortable working with clients and colleagues of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. Most of my work has been with individuals and businesses on a private basis. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you over the phone to discuss how I can be a valuable contributor to your education.
I hold a Bachelors in Psychology from George Washington University, a Masters in Clinical Counseling from John Hopkins University and I am also certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from The Georgetown University.
I work with computers (Windows / Mac) for almost 20 years. Expert in office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Keynote).
Started early to use Excel for business and created sheets for an executive of a big German Company when I was 19.
I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching. I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids. Have a great day, Marcel
Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.
I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Excellent teacher. We took a 20'x2' section of "dirt" in the back, redid the soil, transplanted a rose in that section, added two other new roses and a bunch of ground cover. Looks great! Recommended.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.
I've been sewing since I was 13. I've sewn things over the years such as dresses, pajamas. I do a lot of tailoring things too. I just love to sew, and I love teaching people to sew too!
The way that I teach is to help the student develop their own style. I have students work on their own individual projects that they pick out while asking me questions that they might have while they are doing their project.
However, if they would like there is an option for me to develop lessons for the student on certain sewing techniques that the student could learn. Although, be aware that learning how to sew takes time and that all the techniques of sewing cannot be done all at once.
Then, there is the third option that the lesson could be a mix of the student doing what they want (choosing their own project) and learning some pre-designed
My first goal is to give my students all of the tools they need to feel confident from the very first lesson. I would like for all of my students within the first lesson to finish either of two basic projects (pajama pants or a draw string bag).
My lessons are not like videos you may find online. Meaning projects will take longer than you think they will. I will work with you to properly construct a quality finished project without too many frustrations and in a timely manner. I recommend buying lessons in 90 minute packages, since sewing always takes longer than expected.

We can start very basic for someone who has never used the program, or we can start with whatever background knowledge you have and build on that.

I've been tutoring professionally for over 30 years, specializing in the beginner/intermediate Microsoft Word student.
I have a unique lesson plan with an emphasis on introduction/basics of Microsoft Word. Most of my students learn the basics of Microsoft Word in just one hour and are amazed by just how proficient they have become in such a short amount of time. However, I customize each lesson to go at the learning speed of the student. So, we can go as fast or as slow as the student would like.
Want to create a letter? How about mailing labels? Interested in learning to create a newsletter/brochure with text, images, charts, and more? Want to learn to work faster and more efficiently by employing keyboard shortcuts?
Send me a message to see how I can help you become proficient with Microsoft Word!
I've been tutoring individuals, small businesses, and corporate employees to become proficient in using their computers and applications since 1985, and I can help you do the same. I have the experience to help you learn all about Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).
I'm very patient and I pace all my lessons at the learning speed of my student - as fast or slow as they need so they don't feel overwhelmed. Naturally, it takes a few times practicing the usage before someone feels confident, but I can help you become proficient in using your applications. I enjoy teaching people about their computers, and it makes me happy to see them become proficient in using their applications.
I am well worse in Microsoft office, and interested to teach the needy people

Ashwini assumed that I was married upon meeting her, and asked me when I was getting married as soon as she learned I wasn't married. She also asked where I was getting married, even though at the time I wasn't engaged. Even when I made it apparent I wasn't engaged, she continued to refer to my boyfriend as my fiance.
She would send me political things going on in India, even though I have no interest, and it has nothing to do with the lessons I was taking from her. She asked me if my boyfriend was voting, and many personal things that shouldn't be asked of a student learning Hindi.
She often moved my scheduled time around without asking, which meant that I needed to move my schedule around in order to attend her sessions.
As a teacher she was pretty good, but some things disappointed me there too. For instance, I made a sentence in which a jeweler was a woman, and she stated that can't be correct, because there are no woman jewelers. I'm a woman engineer, and it's really sad to see such a sexist thing. Even when I attempted to ask about how you would say something about a woman jeweler, she said it was impossible. Later she said nurses could only be woman.
